View Full Version : Food Ideas for Concession Stand......

Getting to call a few shots this year that I wasn't privy to call last year, I decided to make our concession stand less to supply candies and more to supply meals for families to eat when they come to the game. We had some baked potatoes stuffed with barbq brisket last week that I ended up hurting myself on, they were good.

I saw a post about LaGrange's "tortilla wraps", I think was what they said. I guess I've never had them before. Does anyone have any meal items for concession stands that they think might be a good idea. If so, please educate me.

And yes, Pud, I'm still knockin those links on a stick out. The secret ingredient is ground mustard seed and ground japaleno in the barbq sauce. Don't tell tho.

You can never go wrong with some German meat-pies...

I wish Greenwood did what Sweetwater does. They just order pizza from a pizza place and sell it 1 slice for $2 and 2 slices for $3. Both times I have been there they have sold out. That seems to be all my kids like to eat anyway!

My fav is a sausage wrap...a grilled sausage in a warm tortilla...UMMMMMM. You can make them ahead of time, wrap in foil and keep in warmer. Big seller for us and easy. I put mustard on mine! :D We also have done brisket sandwhiches, hamburgers, nachos, frito pies and hot dogs...but they are pretty common at consession stands, I guess.

What is a German meat-pie??? What other different things has your consession stands offered???

Gobbla2001

Yah, we're doing sausage wraps (last time I checked)...

German meat-pies? Pretty much every culture or so has their version of the meat-pie... I forget the 'German' name for it, but a German meat-pie is whatever kinda dough you wanna use stuffed with hamburger meat, bell-peppers, onions and cabbage (those are the basics) and it can either be baked or fried...

Tastes good with Potatoe soup...

Sinton Boosters do beef fajitas. And BROTHER, they are good!

Really, 66?

Well, I was kinda unsure about whether or not I'd be attending the game in Sinton (you know, things come up)... But they have good fajitas at the stand, you count me in...

They're at a pit inside the gate, not at the concession stand, but yeah, they are quite good.

Gobbla2001

Accually they believe (really has never been proven to my knowledge) that nachos were invented in Texas somewhere near the Rio Grande in the World War II years...

Bandera YaYa:
I know nachos...but Ballpark?????Yes, I know, in Texas we know Nachos come in many styles. Ballpark Nachos are the variety where you throw some tortilla chips in a container, pour watery liquid cheese over them, throw some jalapenos on them and get really messy eating them.

They were unveiled as a concession by a certain professional team a few decades ago... any guesses?

Ok, back to the German pie......meat and cabbage fried? Guess I haven't had one at an Octoberfest or something. Any recipes you could get me on these? Just don't have a visualization for them.

Gobbla2001
09-14-2003, 06:57 PM
Fry it OR bake it, whichever you want... The meat and cabbage are placed inside of the dough un-cooked, then you bake it or fry it...

My mother usually just uses hamburger-meat, onions and bell-peppers, but a lot of folks put some cabbage in there...

Ok, tortilla burgers got my attention (I must be dense, I still can't visualize cabbage fried with hamburger meat, sounds like it's got potential tho). Would tortilla burgers just be same as a burger except flour tortillas for buns?

sinton66
09-14-2003, 10:52 PM
Yes, but you add in extras like jalapenos and cheese and so forth if you like them. Might also offer some salsa on the side.

I think it's because they still use good ole imperial sugar to sweeten it, instead of corn syrup.

AND SOCCER IS PLAYED IN HIGH SCHOOLS ALL OVER TEXAS, SO IT'S NOT, EITHER!Sorry Ya Ya. This comparison is a stretch of the imagination at best. Even my vast and vivid imagination had a very hard time seeing a logic here. In fact, you actually made our point for us. Dr. Pepper was invented, is manufactured, and is marketed here in the U.S.
Soccer is foreign, propelled by foreign interests, and is BORING ! If you're gonna compete, you at least have to make logical arguments. wink
