With his team riding a seven game winning streak...guess he really wanted to go out on top...

now he's not even the most recent manager to leave...former Rangers manager Jerry Narron was let go from Cincy tonight!

Why is it always the managers that are let go first? They have very little effect on how many games are won, fire the GM.

Ichiro plays for the Mariners, right?

That kid can hit. Actually, he can't. He's very fast though. No power swing.

I think they share the blame...In Hargrove's case, he quit...his team is in the thick of a wild card race, and there's no way Seattle was planning on firing him.

In Narron's case, the GM spent money this year, and it's not like the Reds have no talent. They have quite a few all-star calibur players and they're just not playing well.

Oh, BTW, he managed today before his resignation becomes official, and the Mariners won their 8th straight.

His team is kicking butt and he still thinks they would be better off without him because his fire isn't burning as hot as HE feels that it should. Gotta respect that.

I wonder how many managers have stepped down voluntarily with their team one game out of a playoff spot?

Wrong buddy. Ichiro has some pop but prefers to slap & get on base more often. Tremendous bat control & hand-eye coordination. He can put on a show in BP, but when you get 200 hits per year & it isn't broke, why fix it? HOF if he plays long enough over here after a great career in Japan. Check his career #s for proof...high OB%, high batting avg., scores lots of runs, & hits the ball out of the park when needed. Great player with a rifle arm too. 5 tool guy, & they are hard to find.
