....are they worth saving, crushing and cashing in??

I'm not speaking on an environmental level.....this is strictly a financial question!

It all depends on how many cans you are talking. If it's just a 100 here and there then no it's not worth the hassle because it will just pay for your gas to go turn them in. If you are at 250+ cans then yes it could

Most of the time it isn't. My dad used to do it, but when he was around there were plenty of cans around too. ;)

According to yahoo answers:

32 SODA CANS OR 28 BEER CANS MAKE A POUND ON AVERAGE WE HAVE FOUND OVER THE YEARS .

My thought was to get a can crusher and and a 50 gallon drum......when that drum was full of crushed cans then I bag them up and take them in.

Hubby has a "deal" with the youngest son. If Adam does the crushing, hubby will cash them in and give the $$$$ to Adam. The last pay-out was $18.

He would start at the beginning of the year and always cash in right before Christmas. LOL. I remember getting on avg $100+ back from all those cans. Of course, he wasn't drinking alone and he did not allow bottles during a party. ROFL!

I remember having to collect aluminum cans as a teenager.....my dad would drop us off on some road and drive about a mile or two up the road and sit there and read his National Geographic until we caught up.

When I was 16 and JUST got my license there was a Willie Nelson concert at the coliseum in Big Spring. There was dumpsters and dumpsters full of beer cans. We (brother and sister too) got to go "dumpster diving"....it wasn't too bad, I found $20.:D

On the way home, someone ran a stop sign and ran into me. When the cops were there, all they could smell was beer all over me, my brother and sister. My brother and I both had to go the hospital...I remember they kept asking me, "how much have you had to drink".

I remember being SO shocked that they would think that I, a 16 year old, would be drinking!! How times have changed!!!

You can always build a house, just don't have leaks like you do now or it will rust

Uhh...not that I know from experience or anything...but they can tell if a foreign object is in the can.

I'm told the recycling centers prefer the cans uncrushed.

had a friend pulled over one night . the officer looked in the back of his truck and asked my friend, "mr. stafford do you pick up aluminum cans?". "as a matter of fact i do" replied my friend. "well i just find it quite odd that the only cans you pick up are old milwaukee" replied the officer:D

My in-laws don't save cans, but they save just the little can topper thingies. Supposedly there is this place in Corpus that gives them $50 dollars for every gallon milk jug they fill with those little things.

Really?? I wonder what the reasoning behind that is?

Probably easier to clean or something like that.
