How many MB's are in a GB?

Im looing at computers online. Some of the ones I've looked at says 1GB Memory or 2 GB Memory but one I looked at said 2048 MB and one said 1536 MB. Anyone know??

a GB is actually 1024 MB

this is because there are 8 bits in a byte

and memory is based on the x2 principle

2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512,1024,2048, 4096

i don't remember the exact reason for this phenomenon (college computer science was a while back) but it is based on that

that's why 64 MB is actually 65536 kilobytes

Most numbering systems in computers used hexadecimal which is a sixteen base numbering system. Worked quite well with 8 bit and 16 bit processors.

he must be referring to RAM, not ROM
