she probably wasn't drunk when she made it, even if she was while holding it at the game, so there really isn't any excuse, other than she is probably a native okie

which is totally belivable

These are the averages for each state. You kids need to spend less time making fun of a misspelled word on a football sign and more on improving your test scores. We get clobbered by 40+ states every year on ACT/SAT test scores. So get with it kids and make us proud.

It's hard to pass an reading test when you don't speak English.

It's a lost cause. Use that time improving your ACT/SAT scores. Make Us Proud!!!

It is all the dumb football players trying to play college football bringing down SAT and ACT scores in Texas. If they would not take the test our scores would be better.

Hmm, sounds like you might actually have a brain that works after all, but I'm still not sure enough to put money on it just yet.

ACT is out of 36...

I got a 30 when I was a sophomore...thats good enough for whatever I want, I think I will retake it this year just to make it better though. With my 30, I was in the 98th percentile.

2006 ACT scores:

Texas tested 29 % of it's graduates and received an average score of 20.3.

California only tested 14% of it's graduates and received an average score of 21.6.

If you only looked at the score, it would seem that California is doing better, but they tested half the same percentage of students.

I got a 35 on my ACT and I can tell you PRECISELY why Texas does not do as well as other states on SAT/ACT tests.

Preparation.

Other states incorporate preparation for these tests into their general curriculum. In addition to teaching the general skills, and teaching the skills necessary to pass the state's standardized examination, they also teach methods necessary to succeed on the SAT/ACT tests. The reason why they do this is that many of the methods to succeed on these tests also help on state-mandated standardized tests.

According to Wikipedia...
In three states, Colorado, Illinois, and Michigan, the ACT is administered to all high school juniors as a standard to measure schools and the students; in 2008, Kentucky will join the list.

also, if you were curious:

2006 SAT results

Texas tested 50% of it's graduates.

Verbal - 491
Math - 506
Writing - 487

California tested 44 % of it's graduates.

Verbal - 501
Math - 518
Writing - 501

Again, Texas is testing more people, hence the lower scores. When you're only testing the top students, you get better results.

I took it my sophomore year I believe and it was the morning after an away game, and I fell asleep during the Math section and didn't finish. Oh well, Top 10% gets you into anywhere in Texas.

I took both tests my sophomore year and did well enough that I didn't have to take them again and I did well enough in my classes that I didn't have to worry about them being subpar. I heard they're changing it though, like you anticipate.
