A Hit that made you stand up

in the 90's Marshall was taking on Benton Arkansas..Their slot WR caught a quick slant and the Maverick LB hit him so hard that when the kid ended up on his back his arms were straight out and he was CLAPPING uncontrollably..It was awesome and scary at the same time

A few years ago, I think in '04 or '05 season we played our season opener against Lubbock Cooper and got beat by a touchdown, everyone was pissed and it looked like the football players had just got punched in the jaw. Anyways guess who meet up with in the playoffs? Yes thats right, Lubbock Cooper. The hit that made me stand up was when they did a pooch and brittan pittman caught it and ran towards the sideline, by this time everyone is chasing him and or trying to get an angle, in the mean time there was a beast by the name of Alan Copeland who was "keeping his head on a swivel" and came across and annialated a kid that was maybe 150 lbs. The kid seriously looked like he ran into a bar. I remember it like it was yesterday.

Ramon from Snyder put a huge lick on a big 'ol boy from Sweetwater a few years back. There were actually several big hits on that play. Being that it was against Sweetwater made it that much bigger of a deal. The kid from Sweetwater was fine and got right back up, but it was an impressive hit. One of the best I have seen.

In the Calallen-Flour Bluff game last year, there were several HUGE hits...the hardest of which was a Flour Bluff guy who just laid out one of our receivers as he was going across the middle. He didn't even move for a few seconds. That was also the game in which our RB had has collerbone broken on a big hit. We put some big hits on the Bluff team as well...it certainly wasn't one-sided.

That had to be the hardest-hitting game I've ever seen.

'93 season, i laid a kid out from robstown who was talking quite a bit of smack and a lil extra-curricular activity after plays. rolled him of on a wheel barrell<--true, don't know if he fit on the stretcher or what but i found out the next day that his leg was snapped in half by the way he landed. if ya have the highlight tape M87 its on there. i was young, didn't feel bad just vindicated for him being such an ass on the field. it was clean though.

hah, we were playin wimberly my senior year and our junior linebacker was a beast, named travis combs. the wimberly qb was runnin to the sidelines and he straight up flattened him. the pop was insanely loud. even our coaches were jumpin up and down screaming, and i couldnt hear my thoughts the stands were so loud. the qb got up and was ok, the hit was more of a looker than a damager.

I always stand up, so I can't use that. BUT.....there was a lick this past season in our game against Taylor that had our side doing the "woah" gasp. Our DB, Cardenas, went for the flying tackle. About the time he got to Taylor's RB, the RB ducked his head - helmet to helmet hit.....and LOUD. I don't know about the Taylor kid, but Cardenas was out the rest of the game due to mild concussion.

Oh I just remembered another. This past years playoff game against argyle I dont remember who is was but this kid got cleaned up on a punt and when the kid got up he wondering aimlessly across the field with his hands on his helmet until finally a teammate helped him to the sideline. We were cracking up in the stands.

Oh I was jumping up and down when Shipley got laid out and fumbled the ball. Of course the call did not go our way, like everything else that day, but that was definitely the hilight of the game.

I don't know if anyone else on the board saw this hit (IHStangFan may have), but it was my brother's senior year in HS, the 2001 season, Ingleside vs. George West.

A kid named Brian Chatman was playing safety for the Mustangs. He was only about 5'5" 150 lbs, but was the second-fastest kid in the district. Came in on a safety blitz during that game and just blew up that poor QB. Looked like the Coryatt hit.
