Is Penberthy the place it was last year, the other side of the basketball complex?

Kyle Field implies this is happening at A&M?

Friday implies this is happening tommorrow?

The times imply it is more than one day?

Matt if you're trying to promote this make sure you include all the details! A lot of people (me anyway) don't have a clue as to what's going on!

I think I may head down on Thursday evening to catch the games on Friday. Does anybody know if you have to have a press pass or anything if you want to take pictures at the games?

In the past, pool games were played on the Penberthy intramural fields. The grass practice fields were used for the later rounds. Kyle Field was the site of the consolation championship & finals only (2 games).

The Lady Aggie soccer field was not used at all. That may have changed as I did not work it last year, but had the previous 2 years. I seriously doubt they are using the Aggie soccer field.

And yes, it is a 2 day event (pool play then finals).

No pass needed in the past, just have to stay behind the designated line for parents, press, etc. We had a big fight 2 years ago, so it will be enforced as to field access. We had a mother run onto the field & all heck broke loose!

You said soccer fields, when you meant Penberthy intramural fields. Those fields have a little of everything played on them!

With the split in divisions, that makes sense that more games will be at Kyle Field.

Texas A&M hosts this event because it bid to do it as a recruiting tool. Coaches could be in attendance while opposing schools could not (campus rule). I have read & heard that these rules are being changed, including for the host school. A&M also has the facilities to host the event as far as space & everything being in close proximity, plus being pretty much in the center of the state. Other schools, like Texas, did not have this availability. Texas' intramural fields are quite a ways from the main campus down I-35. It takes a lot of room & space to do it right, believe me. There are games & people everywhere. B/CS wanted the tourism dollars too.

Hasn't worked out well for them.

Disagree & a cheap shot. A&M has had some good, but not great, classes in recent years. We went thru this last year buddy with the closeness of the rankings over the past 5 years. Texas has 1 conference title (Mack's only one in career too) & the NC in that same year. Good job, but not exactly the mother lode either with all the vaunted top 5 classes. Very inexact science & relying on the Bobby Burton's & Tom Lemming's of the world to rank your recruits. The real measure is performance on the field. A&M can be better no doubt, & should be better as I have often said.

Who won that game again last year in Austin? Should I mention who went further this year in baseball, softball, men's & women's basketball, soccer, track & field, swimming, etc. too? The tide is turning Tiger, so wear it!

(Sorry to the thread - he took a cheap shot that needed a response. His inaccuracy & blinders are at it again.)

I have a question. Van is playing in a league in Tyler with some large schools such as Robert E. Lee, John Tyler, Jacksonville, Whitehouse, ect.. They are currently in 1st place, if they finish that way do they qualify for anything?

Matthew328
07-06-2007, 05:38 PM
No they must play in a state qualifying tournament
