Well, since I'm going to be going to school in Dallas...DALLAS

But seriously, I like Austin and San Angelo and Midland and Lubbock and DFW...I could manage in San Antonio and in the Valley...but there's no way I could ever live in Houston or Laredo or Beaumont or Tyler...

I could vacation there...but I don't know if I'd want to live in those areas...well, maybe in Kerrville.

Concan/Leakey would make a great place for a summer home.

I've thought of a few other little towns I'd like to live in:

Luling (if I can get past the smell :hairpunk: )
Menard
Ballinger (I just love that little town for some reason)
Kerrville
San Macros
Georgetown
Hillsboro

You must like the beach! Corpus is a good town, I lived there for ten years. It's a laid back place, everybody wears flip flops and shorts even in the winter.:D

It feels like home to me because it was for so long. I'm a Navy brat, and up to that point in my life I had never lived any place for ten years.

I'm not very far away from Corpus now, about thirty minutes if I'm driving:devil:

Fixing to head there as soon as I can get my husband jacked up and out the door!

You're probably right. I think the draw that Gonzales has is that it is pretty when driving through. The really nice areas of Cuero are probably tucked away from Hwy 183.

I live in Houston now, and I really wouldn't mind moving back down to Port Isabel and settling down.

But since that's where I grew up and would make me sound like a complete homer. I'll change it up a bit.

I wouldn't mind giving the Rockport/Fulton area a try, or maybe Port Aransas.

Why?

I'm trying to figure out the redeeming quality of our area. Rockport/Fulton is probably the only town in this area I would consider attractive...but I still wouldn't choose living there over a non-seaside area without the humidity.

Seems like we always tend to not appreciate the natural resources of our area and want the things we can't have....like hills, tall trees etc....

People from other States and even within our own are moving to our area daily. Fisherman's dream......;)

Amazingly enough, some of the nicer waterfront homes in AP (Bay Harbor and Pelican Cove) are cash sales. People from the "other" coasts are getting the heck outta those areas where the cost of living is atrocious, but they still desire the coastal lifestyle. go figure, huh....

You see, it's the coastal lifestyle that I want to get away from...I don't care much for fishing and I can't stand the beach so that might be the reason why I really don't see redeeming qualities in this area.

Give me a good river to tube down and I'm fine!

Good fishing, good golf courses close by, nice beaches, good High School football! Can't beat that!

Only reason why I mentioned the Rockport area is the fact that it's on the coast, and it's NOT GALVESTON. GEEZ I hate Galveston. BLEH!!!

Well, if I had to live in a big city, I'd choose Austin because I lived there for a while as child, my mother's family is there, and I really know and love that city. My wife and I have actually talked about the possiblility of moving 5-7 years down the road. The two cities names that were mentioned were Lockhart and Cuero, so far. If she had it here way, we'd move to Colorado or Nevada, but she ain't gettin this Texas boy to budge. :D

for those who have questions about what lake worth is like, being there right now would be dream come true. but its more than just a busting with business city now...there is also a very rich history that is bustling with pride. most peopl around the state of Texas dont really know about alot of it. like, the Lake Worth castle. the Rock quarry, casino beach. the queen maria. i remember going crawdad fishing in the creeks that flow from the lake as a child. there is also the lake worth zoo, no bs, a guy owns a lioness, and like 50 emu'sand some ostriches, and a few other things. in the 2.5 sq miles that is lake worth, there is more history than meets the eye. yes her exterior has had a recent face lift over the last 6 or so years, which is great for the economy, but to trully understand the city, you have to live there; experience everything. have a tommy's burger. all i can really say is that its a one of a kind place and i dont think i will ever have a place that i hold nearer and dearer to my heart as i do the City of Lake Worth.

KingRob
06-14-2007, 07:29 AM
I think San Marcos would be a nice area to live in. Close to San Tone and Austin. Every time I visit I always fly into Houston, then do some eating and shopping. Houston has everything anyone could want. Of course I always think about moving back to Cuero when I'm withered and gray, but I don't know if it's in the cards.

No offense, but I lived in Gonzales for 1 year when I was younger and it is just a very boring, very prejudice town. Once in a lifetime was enough for me!

Rockport if I wanted to live by the water.

Until then....I'm in Deutschland!!
