The way I understand it, 2 games will be played at the practice field while 2 games will be played on the stadium field. Bring an umbrella or something for shade - there is NO SHADE except under the stands.........

well I might finally get to meet some of you...I will be playing. #7 for Bandera, Im the free safety (unless we have some personnel problems, I might play anywhere then), used a little bit on the offensive side...its kind of weird for me still because last year I was only offense, now I am mostly defense. This should be fun though.

SFIA - this is happening THIS Saturday in Cuero. I don't think this will give us a true guage of what to expect this fall, (at least for Sinton - we have alot of guys out of town, baseball, etc) but at least it's football!!! :D

Pirate, I know exactly what you mean. At Rice, we only had like 12 players...we normally have to tell people who cant go this weekend. And the bad part was, we were missing like half of our starting defense. It was only me, one corner, and one linebacker I think.

I have no idea how Cuero's 7on7 team is this year (I hear we have a really good coach :) )

- I had never heard of 7 on 7 before Johnny's Freshman year and then we spent the last 4 years watching them play - we would have just enough guys to play - maybe 10 or 11 at the most - it's hard to compete against 5A schools with only 10 players :( sure wish we'd of had this format last year - oh well......

Basics
1. Games are 40 min with running clock (2 20 min halves)
2. Field is 40 yards
3. its 15 yards for a 1st down the first two "sections" of the field the final section is 10 yards you have 3 downs to make a first on the first two 15 yard sections and 4 downs inside the 10
4. Touchdowns are 6 points you can go for the xtra point from the 3 or 2 points from the 10
5. QB's can not be rushed and no running plays
6. QB has 4 seconds to throw the ball or loss of down
7. defense is not allowed to initiate contact
8. A "tackle" is any part of the ball carriers body being touched or the ball carriers knee touching the ground
9. Defense can run INT's back for scores
10. the center is not an eligible receiver

21-20 la villa beats Cuero in the 1st game

2nd game Cuero is up on Sinton 28-12 at halftime .

The only other game I know of is Palacios over Rice Consolidated in the 9:00 game .

Not to nit-pick, but since there were an odd number of teams in each pool, each team had a one-hour break (while the other 4 played). The way it was drawn up, Every team that Port Isabel played had a one-hour break immediately before they played PI(with the exception of the first game).

Guess we won't find out any official updates on the championship games until later, at least from Lorey - she had plans tonight!!

This was my first experience with 7-on-7. With 2 games going on on the same field it really made it difficult, for me at least, to concentrate on just the one game. LOL. It was fun to watch, because it was football, but Sinton was losing and that always sucks. :o We had a bunch of guys out, but the guys that did show up did the best they could and they were having fun and gaining experience and I guess that is the most important thing.

I doubt I'll make any more of these, sorry Matt!

Yes, because Cuero is scheduled to compete at the Texas State SQT. Do you know if PI is scheduled to compete at any other tourneys? If so, then yes they still have an opportunity to qualify. If not, then they are done.

Only 4 schools from each SQT qualify.

PI can qualify still if they can enter another tournament...there are 3 more small school tournaments left..the one at Texas State next week, Tyler Junior College on June 30 and Sam Houston State on July 7

Palacios was pretty good, but they ran their mouths alot. They had one really great receiver, gave us some problems. Their quarterback was deadly accurate as long as the throw was within 15-20 yards. He couldnt throw it very far though, maybe 50 yards if he was lucky, that is the impression i got from playing him.
