You will play Giddings tonight in the big game which will probably determine the district champion. You have worked extremely hard since the last game in 2001 when we fell just short of the state championship. Your determination to return a [B]champions[/B in district 24 was apparent to everyone who watched how you refused to yield to a fired up and very tough Elgin team last week. You have rebounded from a disappointing start against Yoakum to win 6 straight against some very good teams. Each one of you have made a committment to win and have sacrificed to get where you are. You have endured criticism, doubters, smack talkers, injuries, the heat in 'two a days' rain and all sort of adversity. You have been ranked high and low on the polls, told you were overated, inexperienced, too small, too slow, not "like prior years teams from La Grange" and other uninformed or unwarranted things, yet here you are 6-1 2-0 playing on your field against a fired up Giddings team that thinks you are overconfident and ripe for a whipping. Well, I think they are wrong, just as all the critics and doubters around the state have been about your team. You have shown this community how much heart you have and have established respect from everyone who has played you. Now go out there tonight and take what is yours , the district championship.
