i guess i should have been more specific.

my original intent was to know who the best high school football player you ever saw was, based on your personal opinion, not who was famous that you met back in the day when they weren't quite as famous

this also has nothing to do with what they do after high school

They had a beast of a linebacker on that squad. A big white guy that was about 6'3" 235 named Wayne Rogers was an absolute monster when he played with LT at Waco U. He later went on to U of H and made first team all-conference at LB for them and had a brief stint in the NFL with Buffalo I believe. That team had good talent, but some pretty bad coaching. Leroy Coleman will never be confused with Gordon Wood.

It was funny watching LT and Wayne play basketball, especially LT. I still remember when we played LT in basketball his senior year. Both teams had already clinched playoff berths and he walks up to a friend of mine who started that night against him and LT says point blank right before tip-off..."Don't you know who Iam? I made all-state in football!" My friend said something to the effect of "And that has what to do with basketball?"

They proceded to destroy us that night. :)

He was a 4 year starter both sides of the ball.
Went on to play for Nabraska after they one it all.
I got to see that kid play saftey for Cuero and layout so many that tried to get to the outside or try and make a catch.
He was an all state QB as well as a Safety on D.
I have seen so many really good players over 25 plus years. But for me its Clint Finley.

According to my late father, Kenneth Hall was a man among boys. His rushing & scoring records still stand for the most part too. Bear Bryant called his handling of the "Sugar Land Express" his worst mistake in coaching while at A&M. New stadium in Fort Bend County now bears his name too.
