Wow, that is what I thought. Check this out...

1987-1988 season Coach Taylor leaves, Coach Patz hired Pirates win State in Baseball

1988-1989 season Coach Patz leaves, Coach Davenport hired; Pirates state champs in Baseball

2001-2002 season Coach Davis leaves and Coach Mitchell is hired; Pirates win state in Baseball

2006-2007 season Coach Mitchell leaves and Coach Allen is hired; you fill in the blank.

Coincidence, I think not.

:)

About the earlier mentioned coaching changes and the baseball state championships, my questions... weren't the coaches that changed athletic director football coaches? And has the head baseball coach been there a long time. And the Alanes that plays first was he also a good football player?

yes that was the point. I thought it was an interesting tidbit that those years even with the changes of an AD/Hd FB the baseball program remained extremely good. As mentioned in several other posts, yes Coach K has been the hd baseball coach since 1986/87. As for Alaniz, he has been a starting inside linebacker for the past couple of years.

I wonder what happened when Coach Davenport, Coach Crowe and Coach Sowell (spelling?) left.
