I waded out to this little shell-island shaped like a horse shoe, walked about 3/4 of the way around it, went about 20 yards out into the water, threw my first cast on that side and nailed this 18 inch trout... then I heard two REALLLLLY loud splashes, spotted 'em and they were close and HUGE... at my first thought I figured they were either porpoise or shark... but whatever it was drove the fish away so I had to go back... gave the fish to a man fishing from the shore in exchange for his wife... I noticed her baiting her own hook and it was love at first sight...

Back to the splashes... I never saw any fins stickin' from the water and never saw porpoise come up for air in the area, I'd just hear the splash... I'm starting to wishfully think "maybe, just maybe those were tarpon"... I seriously doubt it, but you never know, it could happen...

whatever it was, it was huge... these weren't your regular old game fish, these were shamu-sized splashes I mean grande... and the fish were gone just like that...

anyway, the lone speck:

I'd say this is what was making the big splashes, but it was caught May 18th in Aransas Bay near Rockport. 513 pounds..

I just got back from fishing a golf course pond during my lunch break. Nadda. I had one swirl, but it didn't take in the hook.

It was still nice to get out before it gets hot. It was only 88 with 60% humidity.:D :D :D

I've seen that, that is one big bull... there was like a 20 page arguement on a fishing forum over whether or not the shark should have been kept... some say the shark population is too far down to keep that shark (which looks pregnant)... others say "Hey, the law says he can keep it"....

big mess but a huge fish...

 That's one big mother of a Bull Shark! I shark fished for several years in my other life. But we either fished off the North Jetty at Port A for Tigers, or way down the beach at Little Shell.
