Ok everybody. With the Rangers continuing failure throughout this year and little hope of turning things around, I've come up with a list of trades that I think would make sense for both sides that would fix the Rangers very quickly and put them into contention:

Trade 1:

San Diego gets: Mark Teixeira
Texas gets: Adrian Gonzalez, Chris Young, and Terrmel Sledge

Trade 2:

Chicago White Sox get: Brandon McCarthy, Eric Gagne
Texas gets: John Danks, Nick Massett

Trade 3:

Arizona gets: Vicente Padilla
Texas gets: Doug Davis

Trade 4:

Milwaukee gets: Nelson Cruz, Brad Wilkerson, Nick Massett, Joaquin Benoit
Texas gets: Fransisco Cordero, Kevin Mench

Trade 5:

Cleveland gets: Kevin Millwood, Kenny Lofton, Akinori Otsuka
Texas gets: Travis Hafner

If the Rangers pulled off these five moves, they'd be in prime position to contend immediately!

I doubt the Padres would give back Gonzales and Young...

I doubt the White Sox would give back Danks...

I doubt the Brewers would give back Cordero and Mench...

Do the Rangers really want Doug Davis back??? He wouldn't be any worse than Padilla is right now though....

I doubt the Indians would give back Hafner...

You do all that and what do you end up with?

Lineup
1. Michael Young, SS
2. Ian Kinlser, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Travis Hafner, DH
5. Sammy Sosa, RF
6. Kevin Mench, LF
7. Ramon Vazquez (Hank Blalock), 3B
8. Gerald Laird, C
9. Jerry Hairston, CF

Pitching
1. Chris Young
2. John Danks
3. Robinson Tejeda
4. Kam Loe
5. Doug Davis

Fransisco Cordero

Does that look much better than what they're rolling out right now?

In my opinion, absolutely...the top 5 hitters are legit power threats and much better than trotting out Kenny Lofton and Nelson Cruz. You might be able to get Cat or Mench to play CF (believe it or not, Mench played there a few times before), and the pitching staff is younger, less expensive, and better.
