Graham should start some where in the top 10. I dont care who you are 9 on offense and 6 (seven depending on how you look at it) returning on defense is pretty impressive for a team that went 3 rounds deep.

Did Monahans loose everything they had??
I figured surely they would be a top 10 team somewhere below Snyder.:D

Opinions? Do you know what the Dub lost this year? 1 returning starter on offense and 2 on defense. Not much to work with.

Thoughts? Just one; You've been in your dad's beer fridge again!

Monahans has some good players back they have some great kids that will be competing at QB one of them is a Soph.
But the senior is tough played lots last year as a junior was
the better passer. The strong thing is the Lobo defense will
be better next season good speed on defensive side.
And the Lobo offensive line will be better.
Coaches really like there offensive line and speed on defense.

Woah! Port Isabel #9? Thanks for the props, but I think despite the fact Port Isabel will be much improved from last year's team, for the most part the team is still pretty young.

HOWEVER, after this season, the next 2-3 seasons will be the ones to watch out for.

If i had to forecast what DCTF would say:

1. Liberty Hill
2. Celina
3. West Orange-Stark
4. Texarkana Liberty Eylau
5. Graham
6. Wimberley
7. Royse City
8. Cuero

Keep in mind, this is not what I would pick, which would be:

1. Celina
2. Liberty Hill
3. West Orange-Stark
4. Royse City
5. Wimberley
6. Texarkana Liberty Eylau
7. Graham
8. Cuero

(just to make this thread legitimate)

pretty high and mighty on wimberley eh??

can i ask why?

charlesrixey
05-29-2007, 01:44 PM
don't ask me, don't they have stuff returning?

More than Hondo, anyway

of course, this is all secondhand crap

i can tell you Celina and LH will be up there, and no matter what BS others are talking about, Royse City is going to be a top-10 team next year

you can call it region-centric, but they will be better than last year, and last year they weren't far from being no 1 in D1

i have quite a few friends at wimberley and they lose a good amount. they will obviously always reload just bc they have a lot of athletic talent there right now but they will be pretty young.

theyll have a handful of playmakers but as a team i have my doubts about them contending for anything big.

and i agree with you on hondo, frm what i hear they lose alot also.

whats royse city return?

I like it. :D But, seriously I wouldn't START them up that high, but as the season progresses I think they will get up there.
Tarpons will have a bevy of a backfield and a great D coming up.

Kenny young or not, IMO they will be making some serious noise, THIS coming season.

It's not so much that I'm QUESTIONING your pick, just more surprised than anything else that someone would even mention the Tarpons in any pre-season Top 10 polls. I don't doubt that they'll have a big year this season, but they are, for the most part, still young. It'll be a mostly Soph/Junior team with a handful of Seniors, hence the reason why I said after this season, the next 2 seasons will surely be ones to remember.

All I ever hear about is Snyder and Sweetwater and how they're God's gifts to Texas High School Football and all........it's enough to give me a migraine headache. :D Toss Cuero, Gilmer, Liberty Hill, and a few others into that mix as well, but at least their fans aren't nearly as annoying. :D

you need to do some research on cuero. they have nothing left. most likely they will be starting a sophomore quarterback or praying for a move in. quincy and stephon and kaeron can only do so much.

Well ms44 I'll do some boasting for the cuero fans out there, yup they lost a lot, but they lost a lot for three years in a row now and they keep rebuilding.

Quincy, Kaeron, and Stephon, sure most would say they have to carry the load, but did you notice some of the new talent on our relay teams, they'll be running down the sideline catching passes from the sophmore qb that they are already familiar with.

Cuero is at least 3 deep at fullback stephon 1st on the chart
4 deep at RB with Quincy first on that
and more ball handlers than years past

the only move in came last year and he was put on JV, former victoria memorial qb Brandon Eagles- he'll play receiver/safety/and fullback next year

anything less than the 3rd round will be a dissapointment

It should be interesting no doubt . My take on Cuero is that you will not see as many homeruns from the QB to the Recievers as last year but they are going to pick teams apart with slants and screens - more short passes . The Sophmore IF he wins the QB job has a cannon and will do a good job he will just need to run the offense and not try to do to much he will be a stud by the time he is a senior allready 6'2 180ish . As far as the running back position Cuero will be loaded with Quincy , David , Isiah and Brent . I think Stephon and or Troy will handle the FB position quite well . Recieving will be the key some of these kids that play RB will be asked to play some reciever along with the Eagles kid and like I said they will not homerun you to death but the short passing game will be the key once they complete the ball you better has some quickness on defense - Cuero will be fast .

JV lost one to LH

LH scored with under a minute to go, Cuero drove back up to about LH's 30 and got an int, they were up 14-0 at the half but the run attack of LH wore them out the 2nd half, they kept the offense off the field.

don't forget about Robert, deceptively fast and he has great hands, should be the best longball threat, expect him to start at one corner with either brent/david at the other.

The defense is gonna be stout and have a lot more size in the secondary, especially at the safety position and quincy will be roaming in the back at free safety
