Well its my big week to cover the SQT in Burnet this week...

I haven't quite decided the route I am going to take down there yet...I'll throw it out there and see what you think..now I'll have to leave my place around 5am...because I anticipate a 3 hour drive and I'll stop and eat on the way down....pool play starts at 9...

Route #1 (The Scenic Route)
Take 377 in Ft. Worth to 281 in Stephenville and follow it down to Burnet
Places to eat?: Stephenville, Lampasas and thats about it I think
Its a much prettier drive but probably longer...

Route #2 (I-35)
Take I-35 down to Georgetown and cut across on Hwy 29
Places to eat: Burleson, Hillsboro, Waco, Temple, Belton, Georgetown
Probably a quicker route but boring...more food choices I think...maybe I'll take this route home and take route #1 down..

Can anyone tell me the approx. time it would take for Route #1??

Also once in town I need directions to the school....any help is appreciated!

Route #1: 169 miles depending on where you start in Ft. Worth

Route #2: 196 miles starting at the intersection of I-30 and I-35 in Ft. Worth.

The address for Burnet HS is: 1000 The Green Mile, Burnet, TX
Go North out of Burnet on Hwy 281 approx 1.5 miles from the intersection of hwy 29 and 281. Turn right on The Green Mile.

Unless they have a new stadium somewhere I don't know about, it's just south of the HS off of Main st. Hope this helps.

the longer route still seems faster.

Probably would be. If you don't hit traffic you will be going at 60 the entire time.

Stay off IH35, your blood pressure will be lots lower via US281! Lots of construction from Hillsboro on up to DFW. Visited by bro-in-law in Coppell a couple of months back using 35, but we came back via 281........much better to me. Worse part about the construction; you have to run miles and miles in 2 lanes with concrete traffic barriers on BOTH sides and with all the truck traffic that's not much fun!

It will keep you awake though.

Matt, if you still live in Lake Worth this way I am about to tell you is by far the quickest and best route to Burnet from there. I have a son that lives in Saginaw, so I make the trip often. From Lake Worth, take 820 west to 377 and follow it to Granbury, exit off of 377 on the exit that takes you to Glen rose(not sure of the hwy #). Once in Glen Rose get on the main Hwy that runs east/west and go straight through Glen Rose and follow that hwy west out of Glen Rose and follow it to Hico. Once in Hico you get on Hwy 281 and it will bring you all the way into Burnet. Wen coming into Burnet on 281 at the North end of Burnet, the first red light you come to will be 'The Green Mile'. You take a left there and just follow it around to the stadium, you don't even have to come through town to get to the stadium. As far as eating, in Hico there is a cafe right at the Hwy 281 intersection called the KoffeeKup cafe that is really good eating, nice prices and GREAT homemade pies like grandma makes. If you drive 70-75, this route will take you from Saginaw to Burnet in 2 hours and 45 minutes. You won't find a quicker or better route. Watch for the DPS between Adamsville and Lampasas, and between Lampasas and Burnet....:)

So it looks like 377 to Granbury....144 to Glen Rose to Hwy 67....take 67 to the 220 split to Hico and 281 South....there is a real good 24 hour spot in Bebrook called Alvarado's Restaraunt that serves awesome breakfast burritos...I bet that'll fill me up nice for the drive....LOL....I may take 35 back because I need to stop in Hillsboro at the Polo outlet....LOL

This is the route that I usually take, except from where I start out, I usually take I35W south to 67, then west through Cleburne to Glen Rose. Coming from Lake Worth the route you mentioned may be the best.
You'd better make it down to the polo Outlet this weekend for their big Memoreal Weekend sale. 30 to 40 % off I hear.;)

I may see you guys in Burnet Saturday Morning. Have a safe trip!
