i've hear 8-8 starters returning for us this year, should be exciting!

Do you know what other teams should be returning?

Sweetwater of course!! j/k

Liberty Hill's a safe bet. They're defending State Champs, and I believe they have some good talent returning/moving up.

I agree. I think it'll either be LH or Celina, heck maybe even TLE. Who do they have coming back? I know they lose QB, but have RB returning. What do they lose on defense?

YAY FOOTBALL!! :D

Returning 6 on offense and 7 on defense. Lots has to happen to be playing late in December, including a little luck, but I like our chances of being around for awhile after Thanksgiving. ;)

Half of the title game bracket is already filled for D2 unless west Texas pulls off an upset in the semis. Region II DII is going to be down again this year. Celina would probably have a tougher road through the 2A bracket than the 3A one.

The D1 bracket in the region is where the competition is at again this year.

the state champion from region 2 came out of D1 last year: Liberty-Eylau

Celina will be good again, but the rest of the top teams are D1: Gilmer, LE, RC

my 3A top 5:
1. Liberty Hill
2. Gilmer
3. Celina
4. Royse City

Don't get me wrong. It wouldn't surprise me to see the Mustangs go a few if not several rounds deep in the playoffs. I've seen it happen before under similar circumstances, but I won't blame the pollsters for not listing them high in the pre-season rankings.

Did you miss the D1 bracket last season for Region II? It was loaded with the best teams last year and it'll be loaded with the best teams again this year. The DII bracket for Region II last season was a joke compared to D1 and it's going to be pretty much the same thing this time around as well. Celina will blow through it with little to no resistance.

Now 2005, that was the best regional semis match-ups I've seen in many, many years for Region II. There may not be anything like that again for many, many years.

TLE loses some key players, and players at key positions, but has stuff coming up no one has seen yet ... there are going to be some amazing players surrounding LaMichael James this year. But the look will definitely be different. And I firmly believe Royse City is a contender - I doubt they lost many, and that young qb is the real deal.

Celina has 8-8 starters returning from a 15-1 team that lost by three points in the 3A state championship game after moving up from 2A with only six starters returning from the year before.

that is why i think they will, at the very least, be in the top 2 or 3 at the start of the year

neo800

agree celina will be better and also because of the stud move ins they got.

charlesrixey
05-30-2007, 08:05 PM
i would have to say sixteen returning starters would have more of an impact than a 5A player

or maybe i underestimate the difference in level

Emerson1
05-30-2007, 08:12 PM
What position does the move in play? One player can make a normal 3a team a whole lot better, but it's Celina so it won't make that big a difference

Celina has more of their top players returning, especially on offense

either way, i haven't seen a justification for any other team to be up there. At the end of the year they were a step above everybody else, and i think both schools are working hard to make sure it continues

Royse City returns either 7/8 starters or 7/7 starters, including an all state receiver, an all state lineman and a very good QB that can run extremely well and throw very well.

Lost to LE in the Regional Final in a very, very, closely contested game. Actually had a shot at the endzone but was sacked on the 25 yrd line if i remember correctly. That was a great game.

I actually hope RC is not not ranked...that will make the boys that much hungrier.

Coach Webb in four years has had them in the Semis and Quarters...with good talent. This year he has exceptional talent in most every position.

LE is the only team that could slow them down offensively last year.
