rather be fired upon arrival(morning).

I just overheard that Mr. Weise will be fired at 1600 today for longging onto a porn site.
If it was me I wouldn't want to be fired after putting in a full work day, what about you 3ADownlow, what ya think? He could use that day to go and look for another job, or retaliation!

Now I know you seen, or heard of a person going Postal(no pun intended) when they lose their job. Hell I'm taking off tommorow and Fri. now with fear of Mr. Weise coming back to Retaliate, but normally the VA Police escorts people off the premises(sp?) when they lose their job.

So does our security staff but that's like Barney Fife escorting Hannibal Lecter.

I'd rather put in the full day of work (and get one extra day's pay) than wake up early, drive down to work, and then get fired. Sure, it makes you feel like crap, but you have all night to look at other job postings and be prepared to find another job the next morning.

Takes about a days check to fill up

As an employer, you always want to fire someone on Friday at 5PM. That way they have the whole weekend to cool off.

Or the whole weekend to plot and gather firearms and ammo.

Where I work they'll bring in something called "The Group" on Friday afternoon to fire an employee. Most of the folks at my job are actively trying to get someone fired (who deserves it) so it should be interesting to watch how it happens.

At our job if someone is going to get fired/laid off they wait until payday, hand out pay checks and then at the end of the day the go around and tell people to go ahead and leave for the day and then the person getting fired/laid off is the last person that is told to go. That way a big scene is not made. Every payday i watch to make sure they are not going around and i'm still sitting there...lol

Several years ago, someone at my work was getting the "pink slip". The boss didn't want it to be a big production (LOTS of folks in one big room with no cubicle walls) so she sent everyone down the street WITH MONEY to buy ice cream. For the longest time, anytime the ice cream place is mentioned, people make sure they've been invited. :D

As a manager I've always fired people as soon as I got the approval from HR and got it over with but it usually was later in their shift. The last couple places I work I got to escort everyone outside and turn in their badge to security. Always a little akward walk, I try to make small talk but it never seems to go well.

My first management job about 3 years ago, the first person I ever had to fire was for attendance. She was also about 7 months pregnant, didn't know who the daddy was and just bought a new car. Oh and it was a week before Christmas and I had to escort her from the 6th floor outside, so the elevator ride was a little akward.

Looking back though it was probably a good thing, that's the hardest term I ever had and I got it out of the way early in my career. Everyone else I haven't felt too bad about because it was their fault, not to say it wasn't hers but it was still hard.

I've done it a few times. The best thing you could ever say to someone you have fired is, "You can count on me for a referral."(besides saying they just got
moved up) I've never been called for a referral yet(crossing fingers). It is tough to be put into that situation, especially when you are young and am not sure on how to deal with that responsibility.
