What would you rather do? Break a National Record in 1 event and win a Gold at the State Meet or not break any records and win 5 Golds?

As an inidividual I would rather win 5 if I were there by myself but if I was there with my relay team I would rather set a national record.

I bet National Records have been broken more times than someone has won 5 golds....i may be wrong though. I remember some who have won 5 or gotten close but I cant name many National Record holders

I was going to ask. How long will my national record stand?

I'd take the 5 golds. For all you know the record could be broken a few hours later at another meet

National Record and a gold medal
cuz that means you were the best to ever come through up to that point......
you can win 5 gold medals in a year when there was hardly any competition and your performance might not even be close to the national record (it's like a kid winning the 100 meter with a horrible time compared to other years' winners, yes he might have the gold, but it was in a year that nobody was running good)
.....so yeah, you might be the best in 5 events THAT YEAR....but setting the National record means you are better than anyone whose ever won first in that event.....thats my logic
