Agreed Bull19 but A&M has been relatively flat over the last 3 weeks or so, I am hoping they can move out of the regional strong and get to host a super regional next week.

I was there and saw the game at A&M. It's a nice thing that A&M has 2 good pitchers and when one struggles, the other can come in and stop the bleeding. A&M does have more pitchers than their top two that are capable to do well and that depth really is a huge asset. I saw that USL (La.-Lafayette) looks like they are using one pitcher only by having a freshman pitch while limping in the 9th inning and no other pitcher was warming up. I don't think that team can go very far without depth in the circle. A&M doesn't need a wakeup call, they need some help behind the plate.

A&M's catchers, Rowan and Wunderlich, have struggled with passed balls there is no doubt. They are recruiting the catcher's position hard but that won't help this year. Also with Ridley not hitting well this year, freshman Morrow has had a big load to carry and until yesterday had been slumping over the last month. Shortstop and catcher are such leadership positions and since Gregory graduated they have had nothing but youth at shortstop and their catching has dropped off with Spencer's graduation. The Aggies are still young overall and they need a strong team leader on the field to get them through post season.

Hey Reds fan, who are they recruiting at catcher? I thought Wonderlich was supposed to be a good prospect out of Washington. Ridley was supposed to be much better as well.

They have the Houston area 2X player of the year coming in next year, Kliesing from Pearland. Not sure how much she'll get to pitch next year with our top 2 pitchers coming back next year, but she'll probably be in the lineup somewhere b/c she's a great hitter.

Yes, Wunderlich is a top recruit at catcher but this is her soph year and she is batting only.043 and has 8 passed balls, Rowan is batting .143 with 17 paseed balls! Both catchers that I have heard of are '09 recruits.

Ridley is a puzzle, just not hitting either, but I think she'll bounce back when the opportunity arises.

i hope we get to host...we should be hosting a regional but we arent so i wouldnt say we will host a super regional quite yet....for now we just need to win to make sure no matter what we are going, the first 2 games we looked very good though...Hofstra had only lost one game all year at home (where we played) and we had no problem w/ them today giving them their 2nd home loss....they are playing albany to see who we play tomorrow in the final....

my understanding is that a super in waco next weekend (prob against michigan) is a done deal if we win tomorrow.
ou and us (big 12 tourney and season champs) not hosting this weekend are long, sorry stories. but the reward was being placed in weaker regionals than a&m, who got to host.

A&M wins 11-0 over SHSU, must beat U of Houston twice tomorrow to advance.

Sahen, I was surprised Baylor did not host a regional as well. Was their bid turned down or what? In the past bidding for regionals was tricky and host team had to eat the loss if attendance was short, is it different now?

Missed the first game at Aggie Field today as I was at the Giddings/Robinson game. Glad I wasn't there. SHSU had a huge victory for their program over ULL. Then they ran out of gas against a much determined A&M team 11-0. A&M has to beat UH twice tomorrow.

BTW, my alma mater beat Stanford 11-5 tonight at Palo Alto to win that regional and now go to Tempe to play Arizona State next weekend. Five home runs by the Lady Tigers tonight.

there are few power teams in the east, but many get in b/c of auto bids. a&m got a regional b/c they had 3 other teams within driving distance of them. there were no other teams within driving distance of baylor and ou so in order to lower travel costs they had to travel instead of bringing hofstra, albany and harvard to waco. since they were forcing ou and baylor to travel, they were "rewarded" with "easier" regionals. where as, a&m's reward was playing at home, though it's against tougher competition. supposedly this is not abnormal in sports that do not generate much gate $. it had nothing to do with their bid or stadium, because bu bid enough and the stadium is arguably the best in the nation.

UT fought back and lost this game in extra innings. A tough year for the Lady Horns but they almost made the Sweet 16. With CAT graduating and the young team they had I wouldn't have expected them to do get this far. But after beating some top teams earlier in the year I thought maybe they would get to the tournament or at least Sweet 16 but they seemed to have a collapse the second half of the season. I think maybe they overacheived the first part of the year may have been a problem. They have some good young players coming back next year and a good recruiting class so hopefully things will be good next year as far as getting to Sweet 16 goes where anything can happen.

Good job by the Lady Aggies. I think they will beat Florida. I know UT lost to them but a key difference was the game was in Florida and the home field was a big advantage. This week fortunately the Lady Aggies have the advantage and I think that will make the difference and they will advance to the finals.
