Great Job Jason, I thought I was going to have one of those days a couple weeks ago at Quicksand in San Angelo. 35 on the front and was playing great, pretty much straight pars then it all went to hell on the back where the wind was blowing into us on I swear every hole and came back with I think a 49 or 50.

I REALLY wanted Mizuno mp60's. However, I found a brand new set of Cleveland TA2's on eBay and got them for $310 so I'm pleased. Finding good performance irons in LH is pretty hard. I bought some Cleveland 900 series wedges in 54 and 60 degree. I'm thinking about having the 54 bent to 53...buying a 56 and bending it to a 57. Also...the PW that comes in the set is 46 so I'm going to have to move that to 47 as I'm used to playing with a 48 degree. Heck...since I have a 17 and 21 degree hybrid...I might go ahead and bend all of my irons (4-PW at least...prolly won't use the 3) up 1 degree. Damn...this is gonna get expensive.

Next stop is waiting for the Cleveland Hibore XL to go on sale at the end of this year. I have been using the 04 Bertha 400 cc and it's serviceable...but that's about it. I have a love affair with that Cleveland...including the part where when I get my swing speed over 115 mph the impact sound hurts my ears! :)

right now i still use my callaway x16s, ping g2 8.5* driver, callaway x 3 wood, 56* titleist wedge, 53* bent to 52* and a 60* nike wedges, and an old old old ping b60 putter....

i think im going to get titleist 695mb or the new titleist forged irons....i cant imagine trading my driver, 3 wood, or putter...everything else isnt a big deal, im not sure if i want to go to blades or not....

My last two sets of irons have been KZG cavity backs and I've loved them. I have a friend that plays with a set of their blades (he's a 3-5 handicap) and swears they are better than any other blades out there.

A few thoughts for ya...

try out the new Callaway Forged irons. I really wanted to try them out but the PGA SS only has them in RH. If you want a pure blade you could also look at the Mizuno mp 32. If you don't want a pure blade...there's always the mp 60. Also, KZG has a set called "Evolution" that is a progessive work from club to club moving from cavity back 3 iron to almost a zero offset wedge. I liked the idea of those as well but the price was a bit more than I could afford right now.

These are the evolutions...

Here are their regular blades. They really do have the shine that these pictures show. They look REALLY good...

i hit the callaway forged, they were freakin heavy...and titleist has a set of 'combo' irons that im also thinking about...i spent about an hour in golfsmith last week and narrowed it down to a few, ill have to go back though, i wish they had a driving range where i could get a true sense of how the ball was flying...

have you gone to a PGA Superstore yet? The fun you'll have at the store makes it worth it. Plus, they have every possible club you could want to hit and can fit you for all of them as well. Their prices are usually a bit better too on most items that I've bought there.

There is one at Plano Rd and 75. It's on "accent rd" which is about 100 yards west of 75. The other one is up in Frisco at preston and 121.

www.pgatoursuperstore.com

Trust me...after going there you won't want to go back to golfsmith and the other places.

Since this thread has the golfers attention I'll ask my question here.

Can someone explain what a handicap is and how it is figured?

I am a golf moron, but I have always wondered as I hear the term handicap often.

I am a golf moron, but I have always wondered as I hear the term handicap often. its pretty much (this is laymans terms) how many strokes, on average, you are over par...

at par, they have me (figured with all the scores i have turned in, you have to have at least 10) at a 10 handicap, meaning, on average, i shoot 82 on the par 72 course...

if you are playing competitive tournaments, then, say you are a 15 handicap, and i am a 10, then, since you are, on average, 5 shots higher then me, then i have to give you 1 shot on the 5 hardest holes on the course, it helps even things up a bit....

now, a player like tiger woods, who normally shoots under par will have a +(insert number here, we'll use 2 for example)

say i were to play him in a match, we would take my 10 handicap, and his +2, so he would have to give me 1 shot on the 12 hardest holes on the course....

make sense???

the application of a handicap is easy. Now determining your handicap/index is a complex formula that I dont understand. If you want to learn more...sign up for a free account at GolfQ.com and you can enter your scores from rounds at different courses and it will calculate it for you.
