A Useless Battle

This occurred in the War of 1812 between Great Britain and the United States. The War really ended in a draw but that was what the Americans wanted so historically we won the war. After the war had ended the Battle of New Orleans was fought in January, 1814. The Americans led by General Andrew Jackson who later became President defeated the British who were tryiing to take over New Orleans and the Mississippi. Even though the war was over the victory of this battle the Americans claimed this victory won them the war. However many lives were lost in this battle which came after the war had ended. A tragedy regarding the loss of lives.
