If you were able to listen to the Ticket, you would agree.

the ticket makes me want to drive off the road. The only times I've enjoyed listening to that station are when they're talking playoff hockey.

I think it's better to watch than listen to. It's good radio...but great TV because of the added visuals.

So you're one of the dozen or so people listening to ESPN radio?

I think it's up to 73 of us now actually. I wonder what ratings each station pulls in. Kinda hard to compare AM vs FM because of the different broadcast footprints...but would be interesting to see.

If it weren't for Dan Patrick, I'd love everything about ESPN radio. Love listening to Freddy Coleman and Doug Gottlieb at night and (when I'm up) Mike and Mike in the morning.

In the grand scale both stations are down the DFW rankings..But the Ticket wins its demographic target over ESPN by a large amount

The Arbitron numbers have finally trickled in for Winter 2007, bringing smiles at The Ticket and ESPN.

Once again, The Ticket (1310-AM) was the top station in Dallas-Fort Worth when it came to attracting the most desired demographic for sports talk – men between the ages of 25 and 54. The Ticket scored a 6.3 share. Among all listeners, The Ticket pulled a 2.8, good for 12th in the market.

Meanwhile, ESPN (103.3-FM), buoyed by its Mavericks coverage, is crowing over its best ratings in its six winters on the air. The station was sixth among men 25-54 (3.9 share) and 23rd among all listeners (1.7).

Both stations attract their best numbers in afternoon drive time. The No. 1 Hard Line on The Ticket pulled an 8.6 share in the men's demographic, and Randy Galloway was third at 4.6.

Yeah, The Ticket pretty much cleans up with the 25-54 male demo. In fact, them pulling a 2.8 and being 12th in the total market is really remakable given their format.

Those numbers are actually quite misleading. While the Ticket has a better share, ESPN Radio absolutely killed them in cumulative listeners. Ratings are very hard to monitor in radio because people have to log every time they turn to a station, and usually they'll overestimate or underestimate by a large percentage. While the Ticket may have more dedicated listeners, ESPN radio garners more attention from the public as a whole.

100% agreed! I tried listening to the Ticket for a couple of years and never got into it. They're funny, but they don't stay on topic enough for me.

ESPN reaches alot more people to. I listened to a mavericks game on 103.3 in Burnet/Buchanan Dam and it was just coming in enough to seem like it was the original broadcast, could of been a relay or something though.

That's interesting, because AM bands usually are able to reach further. I'd guess it was probably a relay from somewhere else, but I don't know for sure.

It was a mix between the game and a mexican station.
