Satire. I saw Nash throw a couple of elbows that weren't called. That is the problem with the NBA! Inconsistencies and in some cases incompetency by the officials who don't have to answer to the public for their calls. They usual even out in a game with both teams but that doesn't excuse not being consistent and incompetent.

I don't think it's an issue of incompetency. Try calling a game from down on the floor where you're the shortest 3 guys out there and see how well you do. The refs are the best in the business. If you feel you're better...I'm sure you can find a local TASO chapter and go spend a season calling junior high games...and then multiply the complexity of the game by 137 and you'll get an idea for what the refs face every night.

Also, an official is supposed to be unbiased when calling a game. That's why they don't use the same guys for every game of a series. Would you rather have refs with preconceived thoughts/opinions about the way that certain players are playing or would you want them to go out each game and try to call the game as well as possible while providing a certain amount of tolerance to the contact that takes place on the floor? Remember...basketball IS a contact sport! ;)

Sorry San Antonio but the numerous cheap shots by Spurs players (and silver tinted glasses by some homer fans) has lead me to throw support behind the Suns. I was going to support San Antonio because of the Texas connection...but I can't support that kind of play. :(

I really didn't have too much of a rooting interest in the game...but then I see Bowen stepping under Nash in Game 2 as he's shooting jumpers...the blow to the coconuts in game 3...Duncan coming off the bench in Game 4 yet getting away with it...and then cheap shot Bob taking a shot at Nash when the game was out of hand. Combine that...and how can anybody but a homer root for the Spurs?

so dirty play...a cheap shot...the NBA turning a blind eye to Duncan...and something so pathetic it doesn't deserve a response are things I should ignore when trying to decide who to root for? That's pretty sad indeed...

Oh...and the "they're a Texas team" should carry VERY little weight seeing as how their lead by guys from USVI, France, and Argentina.

You have to be on the ship to jump off of it in the first place. Had it been the Spurs last season...I would've supported them against the Suns. Before Game 7 with the Mavs...my friends and I made that agreement and weren't that concerned with who won because it had been such a great, well played series.

Rules are rules.
Was there an altercation when Elson fell hard? No, so there was nothing to warrant a Duncan suspension. The rule was followed closely.
Dirty play? lol The Spur's have played the same for years and now suddenly it's "dirty"...
I think some of you just wanted a reason to root against them and you found what you wanted. Sports talk is stupid... how's that for pathetic and sad.

I'll tell you right now why i'm rooting against the Spurs...at first i didnt care about who won the series both are rivals to the Mavs so i dont want either of them to win even though one has to(dont get up tight about that bc its like a Cowboys fan rooting for the Eagles in the playoffs...its just wrong)..but ever since they have played dirty type basketball i have to root for the Suns they were cheated end of story...

(1)I'd say Amare, by running his mouth a few games ago, wasn't disciplined enough to keep his mouth shut(all the while) seeking a ref edge.
(2) The Spurs, when the game look bleak played with discipline in order to get them back in the game and they kept plugging away.
(3) Amare and Diaw didn't have enough
discipline to stay on the bench when an altercation started at the end of game 4.
(4) Because of "(3)" Amare and Diaw were disciplined with a game 5 suspension.
(5) The Spurs will have to play with even more discipline in order to win game 6 or else the deciding game goes back to Phoenix.

Yes the Spurs are a TEXAS team and they're the last one left.
It doesn't matter... San Antonio was in a "lose-lose" situation(if they won they were supposed to and if they lost then the suspensions were foul anyway for the NBA supporting a "dirty team").  :p

I haven't read this whole thread, but here is my two cents. The spurs ARE a much more discipline team than the suns. I have heard more complaining out of the suns for some of the things that I think they are the kings at. They talk about dirty play, ha, yes we have bruce bone, (thorn in anyones side who gets a few little things in to get in peoples head) every team has this guy. RAJA BELL is as bad or worse if you ask me. Has anyone heard the spurs complaining about any officiating (I would have after last night if I were them)? Dantoni gets on my last nerve, the suns would be a better team if he would work on finally coaching them to a championship instead of complaining and playing the games waiting for one to happen. Nash throws himself into defenders and the officials call the foul against the defenders, what should happen here I suppose is everyone clear the lane when he comes in and let him have the two points, it would be better than the three the official will give him.

On last night, HERE IS MY CONSPIRACY THEORY. THE LEAGUE KNEW THEY HAD TO SUSPEND THE TWO SUNS PLAYERS, BUT DIDN'T WANT TO. SO THEY GO TO THE OFFICIALS LIKE THEY OFTEN DO TO CONTROL THE GAME TO HELP CREATE A SITUATION THAT WILL COME OUT THE WAY THEY WANT IT TO. YOU COULD TELL IN THE FIRST HALF THAT THE OFFICIALS WERE TOLD TO PUNISH THE SPURS WITH CHEESY FOULS AND PUT THEM IN FOUL TROUBLE AND MAKE THEM EARN IT ON THE OFFENSIVE END. AFTER THE FIRST HALF THE LEAGUE SAW IT BEING A LITTLE OBVIOUS SO THEY CALLED OFF THE DOGS HOPING THE SUNS COULD HOLD ON TO THE 11 POINT LEAD. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN SO LOOK FOR A LITTLE MORE OF THIS IN SAN ANTOIO TO TAKE THE SERIES BACK TO PHOENIX FOR A GAME 7.

I am obviously a spurs fan, and I do hate the suns. They play dirtier than the spurs, yet the league doesn't want you to notice; and they cry like crazy (except nash he plays hard and doesn't complain like the rest of his team, good guy). They remind me of the nuggets.....

Just my little spill, agree with it or not, it doesn't matter. I am starting to lose faith and fall into the conspiracy theory with the whole NBA.

Guess Horry's cheap shot worked out pretty well for Job Thief and Co. Oh well Phoenix just has to win the series in seven now.

actually if you go back a week or so you will find where I said something to the effect of "since the Spurs are from Texas I will support them..." even though that's not much of a reason to root for a team.

It has evened out the last two games. Game 4 the Spurs had the lead and lost it and then in Game 5 the Suns did the same thing.
