It was a great race. Not taking anything away from Skye, but when Shawnberry didnt get out well he caught a break. Overall great race. I was also impressed with Gary Edwards race wow that was nice.

that has been the knock on McNeal all year. Cant get out of the blocks cleanly right?

I guess Skye stepped it up and ran the perfect race when it counted.

His name is Shawnbrey. :)

And that's been the knock on him for FOUR years. He's been late out of the blocks ever since he got a DQ at a meet for leaving the blocks early. Still has yet to get over that and fix his starts. Just one of those mental blocks that's apparently hard to overcome.

The kid who actually put in the time and training deservedly won this race though. I'm sure Skye feels pretty good about getting a measure of redemption by going out his senior year with the gold.

Thanks for the kind remarks...Skye said in a post Radio interview on KXOX (Sweetwater)....that it did feel good to win, but his summer plans included entering Texas Tech in July and seeing "What I need to do to get my degree"'.......I have watched Skye since flag football and he has always excelled in sports and was very impressed by his remarks.....my only problem was when I gave him a big ol hug and told him..."I guess I have to become a Tech fan now?????"...Sky said "Yes Sir I guess it does"

I may have to sleep on that one!!
:D :D :D

when you watch the video it seems that Skye barely got out of the blocks but exploded at about the 15-20 m mark and ran away from the field. Great race.

That race and the 4X400 that Fort Stockton won were the most exciting races, to me anyway!!:D

He could not even get in a stance in the blocks until wed. of last week and still he couldn't put any pressure on it. It was a miracle that he was able to do it sat. We were on edge driving up there because we were not sure what he was going to do.

Congrats Skye! You did an excellant job. Thats the way to put an exclamation mark on a great high school career. Now go show them what you got at the next level.

Marvin, will Skye be playing any ball at TT, or track only?

Congrats to this kid he overcame last years adversity and stepped up. It would have been easy to crawl in a hole and accept what happened, he obviously did not do that. Great job Skye.
