Our high school Prom is tonight. When the student council asked for chaperones I gladly forwarded the email to other people without volunteering myself!

I'm 37 and still dont know how. I am also an ex-sailor where knot tying is essential but I just cant seem to tie a tie. I always get my brother inlaw to do it for me.

you guys are just too young. When I was in HS we had to wear a tie and blaser to away games. Everybody had to learn how to tie the ties. We also wore them to school a couple of times a year during the season.

You guys are weak, I've known how to tie a tie since I was 15, and dressing formal isn't something that I do very often.

Yeah I hear you on the 15 part but I do however get to wear a tie pretty often so I'm used to it.

Well tying a tye does not necessarily mean you are grown up but it does show some sophistication. I only use two tye types and am happy to share with anyone who cannot tye a tye.

The rabbit goes around the stump, over the stump, around again and over the stump and then around and down the hole= double Windsor.

The rabbit goes around the stump, over the stump and around and down the hole= single Windsor. :)

Yes, I was in an organization called Business Professionals of America, and I had to dress to match my capabilities, so yes, I had to wear a tie and was very important.:p
