Pilot Point football coach G.A. Moore figured he could use the summer to break down game film, but watching the western channel and reading books weren't exactly part of the equation.

However, that's how Texas' all-time winningest coach has been biding his time as he recovers from a snakebite he received while moving hay last week at his ranch located in Mustang, Texas.

Moore, 64, and his wife, Lois Ann, were moving the two-year old bales on July 3 when Moore stepped down and felt something strike his left leg, but he said he didn't know what it was at the time. There was no pain so Moore finished moving the hay.

"It wasn't all that bad at first, but it kept getting worse and worse," Moore said.

Five days later, he noticed his knee and ankle were turning black. That's when he decided to go to a doctor. He was given some shots and antibiotics. The doctor said a copperhead had bitten him.

Moore said the swelling is down and he should be up on his feet by next week.

thats good to hear that he'll recover quickly, thats the worst things about copperheads, fangs are so little that sometimes u just think it might be a grasshopper flying into ur leg, at least it wasnt a rattlesnake, he wouldve for sure felt that eek!

That's a tough sum'bitch.Amen to that. With a coach like that, no wonder he's had such tough, hard nosed teams over the years.

Wish him the best.
