According to the Port Arthur News-the Nederland Bulldogs rushed for 284 yards to Jasper's 147, and ran up 14 first downs to Jaspers 6. Nederlands QB, Kirk Dean, completed 10 of 18 passes for 172 yards and one TD. Nederland's backup QB, Dustin Hood, completed 3-4 for 31 yards. Nederland is poised to be a 4A playoff competitor, based on very strong seasoned offensive line play.....To lose to Nederland is certainly no disgrace for Jasper, they are fielding a relatively young team, on their way up, against a bunch of seasoned 4A veterans, at Nederland....It is interesting in that this scrimmage was actually played as a ballgame for 4 quarters of play; maybe a new trend?

Also read that Jasper played without their starting QB and RB due to injuries.

Yikes. Well I hope resting our offensive guys will get us ready for PNG next week, but our defense has to get better. Nederland deserves credit, though, and will probably have a nice year.

It is not surprising that Nederland dominated. They gave Jasper's veterans all they could handle last year.

I just received a report that the week before Nederland scrimmaged Jasper; that they scrimmaged H-J. It turns out that Hardin-Jefferson was amazingly resilient and poised against Nederland!...Boy, if that is close to true, that changes the prospective of how 21-3A might turn out!
