I say the decathlon in track and field.
Day 1:

100 m
long jump
Shot put
high jump
400 m
Day 2:

110m hurdles
discus throw
pole vault
javelin throw
1500 m
My second pick is golf.

The hand eye coordination in chess is ultra-demanding. When making a move you must make certain you do not knock over any of yours or your opponents figures with your elbow. It places alot of demand on your shoulders. People just dont understand.

I really became interested in the Iron Man competition when I saw at church the video of the older gentlemen who competes while carrying his son who has like MS or something of that nature... very inspirational

soccer has a pretty high demand for athleticism as well. Certain positions in football require a large amount of ability and strength as well.

Hockey guys are unbelievable as well.......more so than football to be exact (I don't watch it much, but it is so)

soccer takes some serious endurance...
hockey is alot better to watch live...

where should Bo Jackson fit into the greatest athlete discussion?

Definitely up there with Jim Thorpe and Babe Didrikson as one of the top five of all time, IMO.

Name some other great multi-sport athletes of our time. I can think of Herschel Walker, John Elway, Danny Ainge, and Deion Sanders.

IMO, basketball is up there with the decathlon as far as the sport that produces the best. Straight-line speed isn't as big an issue, but still factors in a little. You also have to be quick and it's the sport that requires (by far) the most body control of any out there.

I'd probably put NBAers and decathletes up there as the best overall groups of athletes.

It is my humble opinion that Bo Jackson is the greatest athlete this country has produced.
