I don't know why this bugs me....

BUT IT DOES!!!!

I see so many people's pictures on myspace and they will have "John and I"......or "Mary and I"!!

I cringe everytime I see it. I know this is one of the most common grammar mistakes, so we are going to back to simple grammar 101.

If the "I" can't stand alone, then it doesn't belong.

EXAMPLE: John and I are going to town.......OR......I am going to town. In this case, the "I" can stand alone.

EXAMPLE: Here is a picture of John and I.

Now, if you take John out and just say, "Here is a picture of I"...that just sounds stupid.

It should say, "here is a picture of John and Me".

Grammar(or the lack thereof) and spelling(particularly the lack thereof) are two of my pet peeves. Just listen to any college or pro athlete give an interview and over half of them will commit egregious errors of syntax, diction, and elocution. They cannot elucidate clearly on any subject. That is why they stay with the cliches. For example, Jason Richardson said" I didn't say nothin
to nobody." He was referring to the incident with the Mavs fan.
