...then so are fishermen. It takes a ton of skill to place that bait right where you want to and to fish in weather conditions ranging from 10 degrees to 120 degrees.

I look at golf as a leisurely activity....much like bowling. There is skill involved in the 2, but not so much athleticism.

So no. I don't call them sports. My opinion.

There is a difference in someone being an athlete and performing an athletic feat.

Tiger is a great athlete, but golf is a skill; not a sport.

Is video gaming a sport?

not really... it takes skill to hit a bullseye on a dart board repeatedly... but that does not take athletic ability

ping pong would be a skill. Similar to playing the piano, guitar, race car driving or video games.

I skill I cannot master... I hate ping pong... foosball is fun to play because they are at bars and I like to drink at bars and then get my but kicked at foosball... what about air hockey?

I think he was saying the original guy is ignorant.

I don\'t think anyone here could pull a girl up above their head and hold them with 1 arm.

I say that cheerleadering is not a sport, but they are athletes.
Bowling is a sport but you don't have to be an athlete to be good.

After further review, I will call golf a sport. It takes athleticism to strike a ball with power and accuracy that is obvious. But what most people forget is that golf courses are 7300 yards tee to green. Then another 1700 yards green to tee. And that is if you go in straight lines. Then you play 4 rounds in 4 days. 36000 yards covered in four days and still being able to execute the golf shot. So you walk 21 miles in four days and try to compete. And in varying weather conditions. And most golfers now are in weight training and cardio training improving their bodies to perform at optimal levels. I think you have to stick with sport. There is enough rigor and athletic skill displayed to keep it so.
