IRVING – Before the draft, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said he was seriously considering drafting a quarterback. It didn't happen, but the Cowboys did sign a quarterback many thought would get picked upas a college free agent.

Oregon State's Matt Moore signed with the Cowboys on Sunday, giving the Cowboys five quarterbacks on the roster, along with Tony Romo, Brad Johnson, Matt Baker and Brock Berlin.

In 24 games at Oregon State, Moore threw for 5,733 yards with 29 touchdowns and 26 interceptions. As a senior, he earned second-team All-Pac 10 honors, throwing for 3,022 yards with 18 touchdowns and seven picks.

The Cowboys also signed two University of Houston players in running back Jackie Battle and tight end Rodney Hannah. Battle's stock rose during his senior season, when he ran for 943 yards on 184 carries and scored 15 touchdowns.

The Cowboys added two offensive linemen in Florida center Steve Rissler and New Mexico tackle Robert Turner and two wide receivers in Boise State's Jerard Rabb and Montana State's Mike Jefferson.

The rest of the additions: Oregon linebacker Blair Phillips, Hampton running back Alonzo Coleman, Nebraska defensive tackle Ola Dagunduro, Central Arkansas safety Jasper Johnson and Missouri linebacker Dedrick Harrington.

The Houston runningback has a lot of potential.

do any of these kids have any shot at all at making a roster? What do you put the percentage at of their chances individually? I would say a 3% chance?

Houston RB has about a 50% chance because he can be a good contributer on ST.

Hopefully some of these guys can pan out. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of decent backup o-linemen and receivers.

roster spots are so limited though. I think a lot of the franchises see these kids as tackling dummies for mini camps and training camp and maybe a couple make the practice squad.

I believe the Oregon guy was signed as a WR. One QB was anyway.

yeah he does but he won't see the field in front of Jones and Barber. Maybe he can make the team on Special teams.

Don't count them out just yet, the Steelers have a really good running back who was an undrafted free agent named "Fast" Willie Parker.
