Saw he is a state qualifier in the 100, 200 and 400. That is amazing. That is a tough combo

He wouldve been in relays than the 100 and 200 but with injuries, he was able to run individual events. He's going to Tech on a full ride. I hear there is a bunch of other 3a kids going there as well.

Bill actually surprised me I ran into him about a week ago and told him congrats and he was just happy to get a place that had good academics. He says he wants to try out for the Olympics if he keeps improving. He said he knew he couldn't run all his life and that a degree is more important, and thats what people should be amazed by. He knows what he has to do to succeed in life.

I think Bill is gonna surprise a lot of folks in the 100 at the state meet...

Bill will be in the top 3 in the 100m. We too are happy that he chose TEXAS TECH.

Bill ran a 10.24 at district. Which is tied for the best in the state i think

Yes Skye got a full ride at Texas Tech as did Bill and I think will both do very good there.

Skye did run a 10.07 at the District Meet, which will mean nothing when they line up in the blocks on the 12th.

I have met Shawnbrey and he is a great kid he and Skye get along very good, so if Skye or Shawnbrey don't win I would like to see Bill win it........GO RED RAIDERS!:D

schools always turn in hand held times at District Meets so they can have better lanes at Regionals.

At that same meet, Bellville's Clayton Chaney ran a 13.69 100m hurdles which would be 2nd in the state this year according to texastrack.com. I'm not buying either of those times for Lawhorn or Chaney. No doubt they are great runners, but they are not that fast. BTW, Chaney advanced to state in the 100 and 300 hurdles.

I'd bank on Bills time being that close.

Very doubtful. He ran a 10.63 at the Texas Relays and a 10.73 this weekend at regionals. That is a long ways off from a 10.24

He is a bad ass.

I wish we had done some end arounds of somehow involved him more in football.

Bill may be my boy but lets face it i have better hands than he does and I was a lineman. Although I have seen him make some diving and one-handed in practice before.

Bill may not of ran a 10.24 but its not like they messed up 1/2 second, I heard Bill was flying. But they person that had the best 100 is a soph from SA.

some regions might draw for lanes. Who knows!

I believe that's the way it's done at the State Meet too.

they do draw for lanes in Austin but I was under the impression they went by seeding for Regional Meets but it might be up to each Region!

you're probably right I'm not sure how it's done per region, I do know 1 thing that it doesn't matter what lane Shawnbrey has ,He will bring it regardless. He won out of lane 1 his soph. yr.....lol

as a sprinter I would want an outside lane because you can see everyone out of the corner of your eye. Being in the middle is tough because you have to glance both ways to see everyone....though...you shouldn't be looking at all and just running to win the title!!

i think lane assignments make a MUCH bigger difference in the 200 meters though.
