Coffee Landing Restaurant Destroyed by Overnight Blaze
Coffee Landing Restaurant, a well-known mainstay in Coffee City, lies burned to the ground after a fire completely destroyed it Tuesday night. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the fire marshal.
COFFEE CITY — An overnight fire destroyed Coffee Landing Restaurant, a longtime seafood eatery at 8386 Texas Highway 155, overlooking Lake Palestine.
Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton, who is helping investigate the blaze, said Wednesday morning it appears the fire was started by a lightning strike.
A line of strong thunderstorms with heavy lightning moved through the area during pre-dawn hours.
Seaton said he likely would know more later today about how the fire started. The restaurant opened in the 1980s.
