Reg IV Track Meet Schedule

Brief schedule for the Region IV Track Meet in Kingsville. I sure hope the weather cooperates and everyone has a safe trip to and from Kingsville :)


Wednesday, April 25, 2007 9:42 AM CDT

Cuero High School's Gobblers and Lady Gobblers will travel to Kingsville for the Region IV 3A Boys and Girls Track meet set for Friday and Saturday this week. The meet will be held at Texas A&M University - Kingsville in Javelina Stadium.

Over 20 Gobblers qualified to compete as individuals at Regional plus the three relay teams. The Gobblers will be competing in 14 events.

For the Lady Gobblers 10 girls qualified to compete as individuals plus the the three relay teams. The Lady Gobblers will be competing in 10 events.

Cuero High School will have athletes competing in the following events:

Friday, April 27

9 a.m. -Long jump - boys; discus - girls

10:30 - Shot put - boys; high jump -boys

11:30 - Triple jump - girls.

Preliminaries:

2 p.m. - 400m relay - girls and boys

2:20 - 800 meter run - girls

3:00 - 100m hurdles - girls; 110m hurdles - boys

3:25 - 100m dash - girls and boys

3:45 - 800m relay - girls and boys

4:25 - 400m dash - boys

4:50 - 300m hurdles - girls and boys

5:15 - 200m dash - boys and girls

5:45 - 1600m relay - girls and boys.

Saturday, April 28

8:30 a.m. - Triple jump - boys

9 - Pole vault - boys

10 - Discus - boys

Running finals:

1 p.m. - 400m relays - girls and boys

1:20 - 800m run - girls

1:40 - 100m meter hurdles - girls; 110m hurdles - boys

2 - 100m dash - girls and boys

2:10 - 800m relay - girls and boys

2:20 - 400m dash - boys

2:40 - 300m hurdles - girls and boys

3 - 200m dash - girls and boys

3:35 - 1600m relay - girls and boys

3:55 - Presentation of team awards

Sara is running at 9 a.m. which kinda sucks cause then nothing else happens (that I'm interested in) until 2pm. :rolleyes: What is there to do in Kingsville for 4 1/2 hours? :thinking:

Three of the top throwers in the state will be throwing, all from Dist 30 3A. It will be a shame, but at least one 130+ thrower will have to stay home in 2 weeks. It is going to be thrilling watching these girls compete for a shot at Austin.

Where do they throw that saucer around? :D I know the jumping happens inside the track, but I've never paid much attention to the rock throwing & the saucer throwing. :D ;)

discus will be behind the side with the main press box. Side of the parking lot where the tailgaters are at college football games. If you stand up at the top of the stadium, I think you might be able to see them if you look back to your left. The shot is on the other sidew of the stadium at the east end of the stands.

last year there was a baseball game going on at the same time as the track meet - no idea if there will be one this year - but we spent some time watching "through the fence"
