I have the same question, because my lowest grade during football season was a 99.

This is the most important poll in my opinion. These athletes are gaining an education which will serve them well for years to come, long after the cheers have subsided. I am struck by one thing though, where are the Burnet and Marlin players? Teams so highly ranked with so many great athletes should have at least one acedemic standout. I see Bellville has 4, and Bandara, Everman all are well represented. Winning is not everything in high school football and it is a credit to those teams who stress acedemics in their coaching programs.

Congratulations to all these fine young men for not only performing on the field but attaining excellence in their studies as well.
I think all coaches need to encourage their players to work hard on their studies as well as their game.

I still do not know how this is picked, but Congrats to Bandera. 10 out of 20 Seniors on the State Championship team made the All-State Academic team at all three levels. Oh yeah, we had 1 Honorable mention on the athletic All State Team.

Guess Bandera figured out long ago it was all about Family - Academics - Sports that wins Championships.

i would have thought that there would be at least one or two academic allstaters from burnet, there are several in the top of their class on the team, oh well, i guess its kinda like the deal with jorrie adams from jasper not getting all state mentioning. stupid polls :D

Man oh man. I would have thought at least one would have made it from Bridge City. We had some very talented players on the honor role. I think one of our all state HM has a very high G.P.A. I dont really know why he isn't on here. Maybe 2nd team. Anyone know where I can find the second team and honorable mentions?

I am a little shocked about Bridge City, who is supposed to turn in the grades for this? I was at a ASA/AFA winter league softball tournament Saturday and a football recruiter from Rice University was sitting next to me. We talked about Peebles and a number of others from the Bridge City Seniors that had the brains to go to Rice, and had been courted. There is just a whole lot of good players that cannot compete academically at Rice! Of course, there is different levels of competition for top grades at various schools. Those kids from schools that do great in assorted academic contest, against other schools, have a lot of youth that don't have excellent grade averages because of the level of academics. They still do great in College. Partly because they are challenged by their peers in their own local High School.
