Breaking News -- Needville HS on fire

Watching Channel 13 in Houston and they are covering live a fire at Needville High School. There is also a brief article in the Houston Chronicle online www.chron.com. I'll give more details in a moment.

Classes are cancelled for today. Channel 13 says 20% of school is burned. Fire started at about 3:30 this morning. They are showing video of the fire and it was not a good picture. They had trouble getting water to the fire. Looks like the fire was in the old main part of the school which several generations including many of my relatives went to school. The administrative offices for NHS were located there and some classrooms.

I know that they are supposed to play West Columbia in a softball playoff game tonight. I hope that it still works out.

I hope that everyone says a prayer for the community that they can cope with this tragedy. I know my family is saddened by this already and are praying for the Needville community.

Its a very sad deal indeed. Its pretty much destroyed the Main Building. All the records, offices, computer labs, and some classrooms are gone.

Its been a tragic year for us with the loss of Officer Mendoza and now this.....

Please pray for Needville ISD.

I know there is a lot of history in the old building there. A lot of good memories according to relatives of mine who went there.

Very sad, but at least everyone is okay. The TAKS tests from last week were destoyed so I wonder how they'll handle that.
