Murder-suicide in Portland

PORTLAND - A 75-year-old man shot his wife, then himself early Friday, authorities said.
The Portland Police Department recieved a 911 call at about 9:17 a.m.from a man who said he had just shot his wife and was going to kill himself, Lt. D.A. Gonzalez said.
Officers, along with a SWAT team, responded to a residence on Ghent Street. Authorities knocked on the door, and when they got no answer, they entered the house, finding the couple dead, Gonzalez said.
Police found a weapon and contacted family, Gonzalez said. Family told police that the woman had a history of Alzheimers disease and that her husband had become depressed because of the situation, Gonzalez said.
No other information from police has been released.
