Planning on going in May, but hadn't been to Vegas in years. I'll be taking my 21 year old daughter. What are some of the cool places to see and which hotels are fun to stay at? Any must see shows? She loves anything french, so the Paris Casino might be a great choice. I've been checking for a package deals and so far FunJet has been the best.

I went last summer and stayed at the circus circus, its cheap but it isn't the fanciest hotel on the strip..

Since you've been to Las Vegas before I assume you know that you need to have some serious cash to have a good time (unless you go to the penny slot machines and hit up the cocktail waitresses).. Anyways when we went we saw carrot top live, walked the strip a couple of times (sucks when its 107 outside), gambled alot, saw the beatles: love, and ate at a few different places on the strip..

It was deffinently a fun trip, I look forward to going again someday in the future

go see the Love show at Mirage. I've had a few friends that have seen it and they've all said it's by far the best show in town right now. I've also read that on numerous other sites.

A good forum to check out is:

As far as hotels go, Paris is great in terms of location. Rooms are pretty nice but I'm really not a fan of the vibe you get in their casino. Everything else about the place is pretty good...and of course being in the middle of the strip is great. Avoid MGM if you can unless you are going to stay in the new Signature at MGM property. I'm thinking about staying there when I go in September. Mandalay Bay is great once the weather gets hot because of their great beach/wave pool...however being at the very end of the strip will kill your legs after a day or two if you plan to see any other casinos. Last time I was there I stayed at Caesars in the original tower. The rooms are getting a bit old but still very comfy and they worked great for me. Some here (p44 and TX Challenge) are more knowledgeable about Vegas than I so hopefully they can offer some insight.

From the pictures, I didn't get a good vibe about the casino either. Looks like we might just go for a visit or lunch.

Stay at the Ventian or at least go visit that and the Fountain Show at night compliments of the Bellagio. I love comedy clubs so I recommend that at Harrahs.

We usually stay on the strip - (Mirage, Treasure Island, Monte Carlo) but last summer we opted for the Nugget and it was nice BUT they were doing major construction - but it should be completed by now. Hope you have a good time - I wanna go again SOON - oh yea - I would recommend Cirque Soleil (sp) LOVE - the commercials look really neat - we saw them in 1997 and it was fantastic...............

Any advice on the best casinos to win MONEY! I play video poker, but heard you have to go off strip for the full pay 10/7 machines.

Just went this past weekend and won $205 playing .25 video poker at the Mandalay Bay! Though really I got lucky. That place has an awesome casino, and the shark reef is a cool touristy thing to do.

My favorite casino overall is Paris. Don't know why there's so much hatin' on it. The tables are a bit more expensive, but the service there is great/ very attentive(I stayed at MGM Grand, and while the Sports Book there is awesome and the tables are plentiful, service is horrible) and since roof is painted like the sky, you never know when its late.

Hard rock is nice, too. Your daughter may like that one as it has a younger crowd to it. And the Casino Royale has $3 craps, but maaaan that place is sketchy. When your namesake restaurant is Denny's, you ain't too classy.

My suggestion for hotel would be Bally's. It's a great location, reasonably priced, and you can walk underground to play at Paris. But hey, just one man's thoughts.

oh yeah...the other hotel I was going to suggest is Flamingo. They just finished remodeling their rooms and their "go rooms" have a Euro/retro look to them...which your daughter might appreciate.

Palace Station has the loosest slots. Its a nice casioo. Not too far off the strip.

I just got back today from a few days in Vegas with my wife. We had the best luck at Luxor as far as gambling went:

I really liked that hotel and New York New York was really cool:

We stayed at treasure island which was a great location since we ate one night at Caeser's Palace and the next night at the mirage and saw the Blue Man group at the Venetian. Caesar's Palace had the most incredible sculptures and fountains. You could walk around for hours in there looking at stuff.

Last but not least the Bellagio is something you have to check out. The smell of all the fresh flowers in the lobby and the garden just beyond was the most fragant smell I've ever experienced.

they have a little tram that runs from there back to harrah's if you don't want to walk it. Harrah's sucked IMO...

I was in Vegas three weeks ago. Stayed at the Paris, and I thought it was great. The room was nice and I thought the casino had a great vibe! I don't gamble much, but my colleagues won often.

We really enjoyed Margaritaville (right across from Ceasars). If you go, be sure and sit on the ground floor where the girl gets out of the volcano and slides into a giant margarita.

I wanted to see Stevie Nicks at Ceasars, but the tickets were $175 dollars!! Sorry Stevie..no can do!!

Hope you have a great time, I know I did!!:D

Last june took the wife for our first anniversery. Splurged and stayed 3 nights at the Bellagio. If you can swing it - once in a lifetime place to stay. As far as shows - anything cirque d soliel (sp?). Again, the one at the Bellagio was absolutley awesome - you almost have to see it twice to catch everything that going on. People diving from 20 feet into water and in 2 minutes the waters gone......... Again pricey ($120 per for great seats) but won't ever forget it.

Don't forget to get cosy with the concierge whereever you stay. A little sweet talking and sob stories may get you a dang good deal and seats for shows.

As far as gambling - we paid a few light bills.................quite a few light bills................................would go back in a heartbeat

Gotta love "O"...even though it's the original, I think it's still the best of the Cirque shows though I'm really looking forward to Love (should that count though since it's not a concept show?).

Definitely agree on Margaritaville...if you order "the perfect margarita" be prepared cuz (even if you like tequilla) that drink is STRONG!!!
