It will be another way to get kids to come to school... and pay a load of money to go there.

I didn't think that UIW would be a scholarship school?
I thought UIW would be like Trinity and other schools that doesn't allow scholarships.

As of right now, from what I can tell, it looks like UIW would have to be D-II independent or completely cut out athletic scholarships and drop to D-III.

Either way, UIW is going to be seeking conference affiliation for just football. The Lone Star Conference doesn't make any sense, as it is all public schools, and is likely to stay that way.

Other D-II conferences in the region are the MIAA, which is all in Kansas and Missouri, and the RMAC, which is all Nebraska, Colorado and New Mexico.

Based on the press release, UIW has every intention of keeping scholarships and staying in D-II, meaning that there will be some long road trips ahead of them when the LSC schools start playing each other.

If you want a real good look of how the D-II conferences are spread out, check out this link. (http://www.d2football.com/board/index.php?showtopic=9761)

Hope that helps.

True. I knew I would get one minor thing wrong there.

However, ACU had 4,800 students.
UIW has 5,500.
Tarleton 9,464.

So...maybe UIW fits the LSC better than I thought. It will all depend on...
- If the LSC wants to expand
- If UIW wants to join the LSC
- Will it be on a full membership, or a football only?

The answers to those questions will not only affect UIW and LSC football, but pretty much every sport for D-II in the Midwest and Southwest, as it can potentially shake up all sorts of other conferences...

from the article: "will construct, on campus, a 3,000-seat football facility including field house and offices."
