Hey, what do yall think about the Red River Shoot Out?

And is UT out of contention for a national title?

The team I see maybe getting there is VT. Miami has barely squeak by the last couple of game and will lose to either VT or Florida State or both.

ut has a slim chance but like so many times because of their own boo boo (ark) they must rely on others to upset the top.

It depends if UT's defense shows up. If it does, look for UT to win. They've already discovered Young can pull 'em out in the close ones.

As much as it pains me to type it, the Sooners are in the 'Horns heads and this may be the greatest intangible. Like the previous years it will be close but I predict:

Oklahoma 21
Texas 17

I hope I'm wrong.

IF it's that close, Texas will win with Young. I firmly believe that.

Probably two of the teams with the most talent in the nation. The difference is what is done with the talent, and Bob Stoops owns Mack Brown. Stoops is arguably the best coach in the nation, Mack Brown is nowhere close. I'm picking Stoops, and if these guys traded players, and Bob coached the UT boys, I think he'd win as well.

Oklahoma 31
Texas 17

My question has to be, who will start for Texas? Mock or Young? Will they rotate in and out? I think I would go with Young, as long as his ankle is healthy.

Will be interesting to see if Young's ankle holds up. It has to be swollen after returning in Sat's game. Anxious to see if he'll be 100%.

If Young does get the start, I want to see how he handle the OU defense, which will be by far the best he's seen. He'll be forced to make more reads, and use his mind more than his athletic ability. The guy has potential, but I won't be completely sold until I see him "run" an offense, and not just "run around" in an offense.

I look for Mock to start. He's the one that's been there (on the sidelines anyway) for the past few years. He's a little more experienced. If he's ineffective early, look for Young to come in.

I look for field position to be a major player in this game as well. OU seems to keep Texas on its own end of the field way too much for my liking.

Texas over OU...(please... :( )

I am a huge UT fan, but doesn't look good for the horns. Has anyone paid any attention to the defense? They have not played very well at all.
No running game. Not very effective passing game.

In my opinion, OU is not in Texas's head anymore. They WERE in Chris Simms's head, but he's gone now. The last two years were good games that went to OU because of Simms's mistakes. Texas controls their own destiny if they win this one. Should they win out, they'd get to play in the all-important Big XII championship. Winning that game automatically puts them in the BCS, and having that extra win helps in the statistical polls used to determine the Championship Game teams. A win by Texas puts them around #6 at least just for knocking off the #1 team.

On the other hand, if OU wins, they've basically clinched a spot in the BCS barring another disturbing loss to Oklahoma State. The Sooners have played very well this year and are very deserving of their #1 ranking. Only a handful of teams are capable of stopping OU this year, but Texas is one of them. If they beat Texas, the only way that they will NOT play in the championship game will be an inner-team meltdown or a game in which they commit tons of turnovers.

Overall, look for another nail-biter game to be decided in the fourth quarter. My pick goes to the Longhorns, thanks in large part to Roy Williams, the nation's best receiver and arguably the leading candidate for next year's #1 pick in the NFL. Williams personally guaranteed that Texas would run the table after the Arkansas loss, and he's always been a guy to back up his words with his play.

Roy Williams is not on Larry Fitzgerald's level. The top receiver in the country does not drop a critical 3rd down pass, and pout afterwards.

I'm with Bellville22, Young better learn more than 10% of the playbook this week, because he's not gonna be able to round around on OU's D.

I really hate OU being a long-time Nebraska fan, but I think they're the best team in college football this year and could very well emerge as national champs when it's all over. OU 31, UT 20.
