Felix Hernandez pitching for Seattle

"El Cartuela" (Seriously this has been stitched into his glove since he made his debut in the states. I'm sure some of our Spanish speaking folks can guess what that means!) is embarrassing the Sox. I've been following him since he made his first start for the Everett AquaSox in short-season baseball when he was 17. This kid is amazing.

I'm so glad I suckered someone into taking Jake Peavy for him two years ago in a dynasty fantasy league I do. The other league owners laughed then. Payback is fun! I can't wait to get to see just turned 21 year old King Felix in person this season. That fastball and slider is a thing of beauty to watch when he throws it. He'll be the best pitcher in baseball within the next 2-3 years if he makes it through the injury nexus.

7 Innings NOW! Wow he's embarrassing a darn good lineup. I think that's now 5 of 53 batters this season that have gotten a ball OUT OF THE INFIELD against El Cartuela...WOW!

he's been fairly effective, if not perfect. And, obviously, it has been more than good enough. Daisuke Matsuzaka is a good pitcher, and has the control to win 20 games this season, but the story is definately hernandez. I turned on this game to watch the first inning but it has been pretty good.

he has only 2 years in majors but developing a pattern where he is hard to hit early, especially in April. Career 17 W 18 L. Varitek is biggest test in the 8th.

Expect that career won-loss record to look a lot different by the end of the season. Even on a mediocre team like Seattle he's going to win this season. I'm an A's fan and I'd trade any 3 players on our roster for this kid right now.
