Yoakum, Cuero hope to defend district golf crowns

Yoakum and Cuero return to Victoria this week seeking to defend their district golf championships. And both teams appear in very good position to do just that.
Yoakum will play host to the District 29-3A Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at Colony Creek Country Club. Play begins both days at 8 a.m.
The Cuero Gobblers have claimed six straight district crowns and have advanced to the state tournament in six of the last seven years, including the past three years.
All five players from last year's state tournament squad - Austin Griffin, Gabe Villarreal, Donavon Sanchez, Steven Bell and Johnny Spears - are back for the Gobblers.
The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs have won 21 district titles, including 11 straight, and have made 25 consecutive trips to the UIL state tournament.
Yoakum returns three players - Ashley Chumchal, Hope Koenning and Helice Migl - from last year's state tournament team.
