sunroof is not tinted glass

i always thought this much....
sunroof slides up and out
moonroof slides back into the roof
just my idea though.

I was thinking it was just like a Hurricane is to the Western Hemisphere as a Typhoon is to the Eastern Hemisphere. Because moonroof terminology didn't come into play until Japanese cars started arriving here in the US. Am I correct in assuming that??
