I found out yesterday that it is cinchbugs that I have in my yard? Anyone ever have that problem??

Oh yeah and they can be a pain. It is early for them to be showing up though, they like hot dry weather. Go get a good insecticide and get after them as quickly as possible. It will take a while for the affected area to grow back so be patient.

what if I cut out the infected area and resod?

You can do that but you still have to make sure you get rid of the chinch bugs, the area that is brown is where they have been and the damage takes a while to show. They are now moving in to the green area. You can test to see where they are by cutting both ends out of a coffe can and plugging it into the soil, fill with water and if bugs are present they will float to the top. They are small beetles no more than a quarter inch long.
