What teams have the best running backs in 3a?From my point of view and the way other people have been playin or should I say keying out of our backfield we have 4 great runningbacks. We run the wishbone and everyone knows us,we led the 3a in total offense for a while now we are second on the chronicle poll. I myself being a qb have rushed for over 600 yards this year,my fullback is 100 and some from a thousand, and the 2 halfs run a 4.28 40 so I think we are strong enough to say that we are the best running backs when it comes to team.If I should pick one from another that would be Barbers Hill
Perry Carrington.

Many good backs in 3A this year. It's difficult to compare head-to-head due to strength of schedule, quality of offensive line, other supporting castmembers, type of offense, numbers of carries, and some other factors; but a few who have shined in Northeast Texas are:

JaMario Thomas, Spring Hill
Sean Cooper, Pittsburg
Cedric Dorsey, New Boston
JoJo Rawls, Jefferson
Andrew Hines, Gilmer
?? Blue, Van
Cordell Champion, Tatum
Cody Glenn, Rusk
McGuire, Pleasant Grove
Joseph Louvier, Gladewater
Gilliam, Sabine
Carrell, White Oak

A stable load this year!

CSQB7 did you say that ya'll had two tailbacks that can run a 4.2? Come on, you were exaggerating weren't you? Was that in the 40? Are they related to Deion Sanders or Carl Lewis?

you cant always go on stats. the best i've seen THIS YEAR was jeremy washington up in wharton. the second best is tommy blake of aransas pass.

tandem of
JJ-1021 yds-14td
Miller-865 yds-12td
Benton-470yds-8td

and they have only played 8 quarters in the last four games! as a team everman has rushed for over 3300 yards and 43 touchdowns in 9 games. that is almost 375 yards per game and almost 5 rushing td's a game. stats good be worse but what counts is the 'last man standing' in December.

You have to consider Lashon Thayer of Gatesville. While he's not the quickest, he is one of the most punishing backs. He has almost 1500 yards thr
ough 8 games in a very tough district. He should be close to 2000 yards by end of regular season and he's only a junior!

everman has a lot of awesome runners
kennedale has rex harper
i also like commerce's eddie hines

from a biased point of view i like baylen laury. he has been averaging over 10 yards a carry with our great o-line. but this past week our line played sloppy cuz we were missing our center and i think one other lineman was hurt. but anyways, he still had 146 yards on 13 carries, and he can catch also. he had 2 receptions for 36 yards. but the one thing i can pick on him about when i see him at school on monday is that he let an easy interception hit him in the chest.

I'd say one of them is Ty Winstead from Liberty Hill. He has now over 1000 yards in the year and in the game against Bandara he was the top rusher in central texas with 276. But in the Llano game he only had about 125 yards. he also averages about over 120 a game.

Everman's backfield has to be one of the best in the state. They can shake tackles with speed or just run you over.

As far as Vincent Tucker, he is not a complete back. He only goes hard when he gets the ball and he has somewhere to go. He can break big runs, but he is not effective against a good defense. And of all the film I've seen of him, he's made all of 2 blocks.

Rex Harper i think is the best Running back in 3A period. He ran for almost 200 yards against Everman. Averages like 13 something per carry. He's blazing fast. Has less than 100 carries, yet he has eclipsed 1000 yards easily. He has my vote.

everyone needs to get outside of their comfort zone and pick someone from outside their favorite team.

The top 5 are probably the best 4 from areas we know very little about and 1 (prob not #1) that we know. There is a back down here that has had 3 consecutive 200+ yd games and can be a hard runner but I would not say he's the best in 3A.

Gotta look at who the yds were gained on and quality of that team's D. If they have already committed to D-1 schools to play RB then you might have a case, otherwise it's up in the air.

Since everyone has been VERY biased in their responses to this thread, I may as well chime in here.

The Port Isabel Tarpons running attack of QB Gabe Alvarez, FB Johnny Nieto, and RB Joey Loera have been ripping defenses up all season long.

Loera all by himself has 1,300+ yards total in only a 9 game schedule (Tarpons have week 10 off) and has a yards per carry average pushing 12. These three guys together, in a 9 game schedule, have accounted for nearly 2,400 yards rushing. And unlike most teams from South Texas, this team has speed to burn. Watch out, Region IV.

Tommy Blake, Fullback/Tailback, Aransas Pass High School.

He rushed for over 225 yards against Sinton, the #1 ranked team in the state. He breaks tackles as if they never even phased him.

Aransas is in the playoffs, so is my Sinton team, so lets get em Region IV. Dist. 30

did T.B. get hurt in the Wharton game?he messed up his ankle or something like that. from what i've heard (this isn't gospel, just hearsay), he did it in practice, but i don't know exactly what happened or when it did. either way, he only had nine touches before they yanked him.

Brian Bird

Before he got hurt Dedrick Johnson of Gladewater had 375 yards in just 2 games. He has been injured ever since but should be back before the playoffs.

Rushing totals now up tp 1659 yards with 27 rushing TD's.

the barbers hill eagles have to above average backs in Perry Carrington and Brian Cummings. Perry has rushed for over 1200 yards and has 22 touchdowns. Brian stats doesnt show just how good he is at rushing, but he has great recieving yards. another thing is they both run under a 4.3 40. Brian is at 6'2" and coming at you at that speed could be nasty. im not saying they are the best, but i can guarantee you that they will give you a run for your money...

TIM GOBERT from Bellville is a good one to look at, he only has 1170 yards in 9 games but, has only played maybe half of them the whole games, Tim also set out the Stafford game, with a sore knee. Bellville has also taken there starters out of games because the games were in hand, and let the bench play. If it was not for a good passing QB, Buenger, with a total of 960 passing yards, and he has also set out some parts of games. If we run Tim Gobert 40 times a game like other teams do, he would have close to or maybe 2000 yards, not to mention everyone else that has some yardage on the Bellville team. I guess it is good to have a balanced team that way you dont have to run one back 40 or more times a game! You run Tim that many times he would have twice as many yards!
Dont forget #20 TIM GOBERT 5-11 200 pound Sr. from Bellville!!!!!!
