I think Katie has represented our district at state the past few years now. Hopefully, this year she can bring it home. :)

A 76 will never win Region 1 in 3A...unless his 2nd round is somewhere around 64. Also...there is no "area" tournament...so not sure where that thought came from. The district tournament is probably two rounds...so he's not even finished with that yet.

FYI I found this (below) and thought I'd post it - there had been some questions as to who qualifies to advance, etc.

"Each district may qualify the first and second place teams and the first and second place individuals to regional competition. If one of the first two individual finishers is on an advancing team, the next highest ranked individual from among the top six, who is not on an advancing team, shall advance. If both of the first two individual finishers are on advancing teams, the next two highest ranked individuals from among the top six individual finishers, who are not on advancing teams, shall advance."


This could be very important since Cuero has 6 legit players who qualify for the Green "A"Team (but only 5 are on a team) and each week, depending on how that week's tryouts go, one of those players is on the 2nd team - nature of the game. We had 1 tournament that all 6 of these guys shot in the 70's BOTH DAYS of a tournament and we even had to throw away a 78 on the 1st day and a 79 the 2nd day. The #1 player on the White "B" Team ended up winning the entire tourney with a 73/75 (148) -

Just for example's sake - at District Tourney - say Cuero's Green Team comes in 1st place and Yoakum's A Team comes in 2nd - both teams advance to the Region IV Tourney - then a player on Cuero's 2nd team (White team) shoots a 78/77 - total 155 - if that is the lowest score (besides anyone on the Cuero Green or Yoakum A Team) then he would advance to Regional as well as the guy that shoots the next lowest score.

one other thing to point out is that the individual, not on one of the advancing teams, still has to be in the top 6 overall standings. If his score has him outside of 6th place...he will not advance.

no, I reread My last sentence and I was wrong - or at least "not clear". The "low man" on the White team wouldn't necessarily advance UNLESS he was in the overall top 6 - so you were correct....... I stated the correct info earlier but contradicted myself in the last sentence.. Whew - now I have a headache reading all that :D :D :D
