Don McLean's "American Pie" has always interested me... I guess if I grew up in the time McLean did I would have known more about what the lyrics meant...

but we have the internet... found these opinions on what the song means, I believe most are actually fact, but some are opinions...

I'm sorry if there's any bad language in it (I forget), but it was very interesting reading what the lyrics are about...

Me and my girlfriend were actually sitting around the other day and heard the song and looked up the meanings. I think McLean was really into Dillon. Great song and some awesome meanings.

It seems he felt Dylan was the new King after Elvis left for the military...

the rolling-stones/beatles stuff in the song was very interesting as well...

His songs and lyrics of the 60s were appropiate and part of the folk music era

XM station has a folk station and plays Dylan music

The Byrds, etc

Dylan has his own show, and on the commercials for his show he has "Deep in the Heart of Texas" playing...
