This was my daughter's 4th consecutive opening day. All she wanted was to see some fireworks. Thanks for breaking her heart and making her cry.

Sincerely,
A guy that can't fathom why you got a raise this year.

Dear Brad Lidge,

I wanted to ask you, do you still have your own spot on 94.5 The Buzz?

If so, why don't you get them to play "Loser" by Beck as your intro?

Wheeler should be the closer The Newark Star-Ledger reports the Rangers will wait to make sure Eric Gagne is healthy enough to handle closer's duties before looking to deal RHP Akinori Otsuka. Otsuka is getting a lot of interest and could close for Boston, Florida or Cleveland. (updated: 03/21/2007)Seems Ranger might be shopping Otsuka if Gagne returns to his old form when he comes back from DL.

me too

If it hadn't ended like this last year, maybe the bitching could wait at least a couple of weeks. But it gets really OLD seeing those highly paid players making the same mistakes over and over again.

Just heard Garner on the news......he said "I'm not too worried, I Believe That Lidge will Get It Done This Year"

(not starting off real well Garner.)

Lidge even went to Nolan Ryan baseball camp this past January!

looking at the bright side of it... it wasn't that bad of a pitch, it was a great swing though...

I'll go with Garner, I'll Brad a few more goes at it...

depends... I'd go with him over the course of about 50 games (about a quarter of the season)... if his pitches are being thrown well but he's still gettin' jacked here and there, you gotta keep him... if not, it's time to send him home with a parting gift:

2 tickets to the game --- $80
Beers for Dad, Sodas for the little girl--- $40
Programs, Peanuts, Popcorn, Nachos---$30
Seeing Oswalt pitch his *** off and having Lidge come in and blow it......................Worthless

For everything there is a price, can we pay someone to take Lidge off our hands?????

What i wanna know is why every time a starting pitcher gets a few hits or one run on them Garner takes them out. Its horrible but atleast he constant in what he does.

not saying he pitches in 50 games, I'm saying over the course of 50 games Garner needs to heavily evaluate his CURRENT skills...

I say Bagwell needs to come out of the box and close down the games... on the mound... with his batting stance... woulda struck the guy out laughing tonight...

I am disgusted too, not just b/c of the 1st game of the year, but the pattern of blown games dating back to last year, etc. But, unless they promote Wheeler to closer, what do you do? Lidge has great ability, it is now a confidence & mental thing IMO. Lidge was demoted from the closer role twice last year in favor of Wheeler. It may happen soon again...but not now.

Gotta start over tomorrow. The offense did little other than Luke Scott, & we hit into numerous DPs, failed to get a bunt down, etc. Not a good day but Oswalt pitched very well as usual.

I am going Tuesday night & have great seats. Hope it turns out better!

People, you guys are all being way to hard on Lidge. Thank about it, it is management's fault. After last year they gave him a raise, so his mind can't distinguish good from bad or what he is really suppose to do.

All joking aside, that HR was not a big step in the right direction for Lidge to get over the mental nightmare he battles everytime he has stepped on the mound in the last 10 months. But, this is only game one of many games and we have to hope he gets over this very soon, earns his money and ends up with 40 saves or something like that.

Last night was just a reminder of last year when Lidge blew numerous saves and the Astros missed the playoffs by 1-1/2 games. That's the part that annoys me the most. It just looks like more of the same. Maybe it'll change.

I mean you have to look at it, I think it was a good pitch... the way he got up there rolling over the first two batters was exciting... the batter just got ahold of a good pitch...

that's why I say evaluate him over the first 1/4 of this season...
