Give us a report please...

Weather?
Music?
Drunken escapades?
Debauchery as day wore on?
Cops really cracking down?
Actually taste any chili?
Etc.

Thanks!

Now we're talking! Oh the memories...it's not truly a party until there's a fight, an arrest, someone puking, or people sneaking off to undisclosed places. Or all of the above!

Last year, 1/3 of all the people who went got MIPs, MIC's, or PI's, and law enforcement officials set a goal to double that number this year, bringing in 900 undercover officers. Needless to say, I was not in attendence, because even though I have nothing to fear, I don't want them to try to pin the "beer within arm's reach" MIP on me when I'm not even drinking or consuming anything.

It's reasons like that why I won't go to big drunk fests like this anymore. Even though I'm of age...the amount of underage drinking and moronic behavior can and usually does kill the show for me! :(

1/3 of all people were busted?

in a way it's good, that cuts down on a lot of the immaturity at the shows, but at the same time what's groin' up Texan if you can't snag a beer when you're 18 and get away with it :(

hell I had to pee majorly at Bocktoberfest a couple of years back... it was before the opened up the new badass restroom system... I REALLLLLY had to go and I was about 8 persons deep... I noticed a couple of younger ones infront of me wearing Shiner football shirts and I asked if they were on the football team... one said yes and he was a senior, the other said no, he was 20... I was really desperate and said "How's this, I'll buy you two a beer if you let me cut infront of you, I gotta do some serious peeing"... they took me up on it (Thank God, I literally had one second to spare)...

then the last time I went, a friend of a friend was there, he turned 21 THE NEXT DAY... c'mon now, you wouldn't buy the kid a beer?

and I remember telling the kid "y'all better win state, if not I'm comin' to get my beer back"... shiner won state a couple of months later ('04)...

behold, the power of beer...

Weather: Was GREAT! No rain on Sat. LOTS of sun.... I still feel that!
Music: AWESOME! Loved seeing the usuals play, but Willie put on a great show and for his age, he looks good.
Drunken escapades: Only a couple obnoxious ones in my area.... they were escorted out.....
Cops: weren't too bad only saw like 5 people get put into cuffs through out the day....
Neve ate any chili.... my team never even cooked any...
All in all it was GREAT!!!!

Shiner Bocktoberfest is monitored by Bexar County law enforcement... I dunno how that works seeing Shiner is not in Bexar County, but that's who's there...

they do a good job of not getting in the way... if they smell pot they'll usually go track it down, but they make sure nothing goes on in the restroom areas and usually stay outside of the crowd looking for disturbances...

wow, AD, that's a pretty impressive list...

My observations:

No Dixie Lulliby? didn't think they'd like it?

No "Songs about Texas"? :(

still impressive... if anyone left that show complaining they should be hit in the elbow...

OK well my team got there about 1 pm on friday.. set up camp started the pit.. set up horseshoes, washers and beer pong and started drinkin... wind was awful friday afternoon. and rained horrible friday night.. lightening, thunder, rain, wind.. we had it all.. we passed out for about 3 hrs at the most...got up about 8... fixed breakfast tacos.. and started drinking again... Saturday went off without a hitch.. great weather great music.. out camp even ended up having a water fight with huge jugs of water.... felt really good after the heat started gettin to us. By the time Willie came on though, my team was burnt out. We were straight up ready to go. We packed up about 5:30 and left about 6pm on Saturday. We were all gunna go home.. shower, take a nap and go to the bar but that didnt happen, I slept from 7:30pm Saturday night to 11am sunday morning! I am sunburt and have no voice.... I CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR!

I think the problem with Dixie Lullaby is that (from what I've heard) it's not catching on with the crowds. I think it's a pretty good song...but it has an odd feel at the end of the chorus when it says, "Oh my what a beautiful life" that really throws me off. It's doing alright on the charts...but I don't expect it to become a live staple. One song he's been doing at a lot of shows lately is the Springsteen esque "I'm Trying to Find It" from the new CD. That one is much more suited for a change of pace song at a PG show.

Starting last summer...Songs About Texas made a re-appearance in the setlist. A lot shows...Pat would come out by himself to play that soung acoustic as the opener of the encore. (There's a video of him doing it last August @ Winstar on my myspace). Right now is just a "down time" on the setlist for that song. He's made a lot of changes lately in the list. Personally...my favorite order of setlist would go something like this:

early songs
Carry On...is there a better opening song for a PG show???
DBMHA
California
Who's To Say
Texas On My Mind

Mid-show
FJLIS
Wrapped
Poetry
Dancehall
Whiskey
I'm Trying to Find It

End of Show
Atlantic City (Springsteen Cover)
Three Days
Southbound 35

Encore
Songs About Texas
***insert random filler song (aka Ring of Fire) here if desired***
Here We Go
***tell the story of Kid Rock meeting PG at Grammy's and singing/screaming WOW to him***
Wave On Wave

yeah...I could live with that show!!! :)

haha...I put that together off the top of my head. As long as Carry On opens the show and I get to hear Atlantic City...I know the rest will fall into place quite nicely.

As far Nightmare is concerned...I wouldn't count on hearing him play that song anymore, if at all. Last year in an interview with CMT Pat said, "I have a song that I think is one of the strongest lyrical songs that I've ever written, but it's not one of my favorites because the melody didn't come first. And the melody I wrote for the lyric was still not as great as the lyric. So that song has been shelved, for all practical purposes, on the stage show because I can't stand to sing it."

While it was never confirmed that he was talking about Nightmare...many people think that he is since he hasn't played it at a show in a LOOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

Thanks Adidas, good stuff. I like your set-list a little better too. Nice to see he is blending old with new because his past 2 Houston Rodeos have sucked IMO & lasted 50 minutes each (yes I know different venue).

Gotta hear Whiskey & a couple of other old ones for me to be satisfied, personally.
